中心公园位于市中心繁华地段。左有国商大厦，右靠跨湖大桥，前通北直街，后通医院路，是一个交通便捷、景色优美的好地方。

刚进公园就看见那里有一座雕塑，远远望去，就象一个“嵊”字。看完雕塑，就来到了湖边。湖面静得像一面镜子，绿得像一块碧玉。游船在湖面慢慢地滑过，几乎不留一点痕迹。到了晚上，湖中还有喷泉，在灯光的照射下五颜六色的，霎是好看。要是你仔细看，喷泉不但颜色漂亮，形状也会随着时间的变化而变化：一会儿是双龙戏珠，一会儿是祥龙出海，一会儿是……真是有趣极了！沿着弯弯曲曲的小道向前走去，只见小道两旁栽满了花木，各种花草争奇斗艳，都在向游人展示着自己最动人的身姿。两边的树木也像一位位坚守岗位的哨兵又像一位位魔法师，一年四季都把公园装扮得焕然一新，可是又各有不同。一阵风吹过，小草扭动起身子，花儿跳起舞来，仿佛在用最美的舞姿欢迎着我们。小道的尽头是一座石拱桥，走在石拱桥上，看着打着布伞的游人，又看着拱桥那边的仿古茶楼，还真有几分古色古香的味道呢！
