马蒂尔德十分失落，整天躺在床上想着什么。路瓦栽看她如此的伤心，总是想办法让她开心，并开导她。过了几天，马蒂尔德突然从床上蹦起来，兴奋的对丈夫说：“我想通了！是这串假项链使我懂得了生活，让我在这十年里，没有虚度光阴，过得充实而快乐。所以，我要感谢它。要更努力的生活。”
路瓦栽先生很高兴，于是他们夫妻俩都振作了起来。靠自己的双手，打拼出一片属于自己的天空。又过了5年，他们家经济状况明显改变，马蒂尔德过上了以前只能在梦中才能过的生活。并为路瓦栽生出了一对龙凤胎。从此，一家人过上了幸福的生活！

她的.朋友爽快的答应了。带玛蒂尔德回了家。皆好后有给了玛蒂尔德3万法郎作为补偿。
玛蒂尔德欣然离开了。拂来思节望了她远去的背影，心想：这真是一个善良的女人啊。
5天后的一个清晨，晨报上刊出一条新闻：骗子玛蒂尔德骗走拂来思节夫人的珍贵宝物，至今还在逃亡中。望知情者配合警方缉拿逃犯。
