有个小村庄，住着许多的乡亲们，这些乡亲们都是汉族人，小村庄里有一个助人为乐的小姑娘，叫喊凤，她也是汉族人。
喊凤的邻居是一位身体不适的苗族老奶奶，她的儿女因为在城里打工，所以她的儿女没有跟她一起住，老奶奶每天都是自己做家务事，很孤单，一天喊凤路过老奶奶，发现门是开着的，看见老奶奶有很多脏衣服和脏床单还没有洗，喊凤决定帮老奶奶洗衣服。
喊凤静悄悄地走进老奶奶的家，把没洗的脏衣服放进背篓，背到小溪旁，她先用溪水浸湿衣服，在脏的地方抹上洗衣液，放在洗衣板上，使劲地搓，搓了以后，然后用刷子刷，“唰唰唰”那轻快的声音好听极了！小鸟也跟着欢快地唱歌，喊凤刷了一会儿，放进小溪里，用溪水使劲地搓，把泡泡洗掉，这件这脏衣服立刻就变成了一件干净的衣服。衣服洗完了，喊凤接着洗床单，打开洗衣液，把洗衣液倒在床单上，大滴大滴的汗珠从她的脸上流了下来，她用袖口一擦，又继续洗，等泡泡洗掉，所有的东西都洗了，她满意地笑了。
喊凤背着背篓回来，晾好了衣服，正在擦手，准备离开时，老奶奶看见喊凤已经把衣服都洗了，而且还晾了起来，老奶奶右手搂着喊凤的脖子，左手摸着她的脸，把脸贴在喊凤的脸旁，亲切地对她说：“你真是一个好孩子”。喊凤脸红了，咬着嘴唇，不好意思地说：“不用谢，这是我应该做的”。
虽然喊凤和苗族的老奶奶不是亲人，但是她们胜似亲人啊！
