郭沫若认为：仁的含义是，克己而人的一种利他的行为。仁是牺牲自己，以为大众服务的.精神。孟子说，恻隐之心，仁之端也，无恻隐之心，非仁也。显而易见，同情他人是仁爱的具体表现，帮助他人是从行为上展示了仁爱的精神。
就拿这次5.12汶川8.0级地震来讲，它是一种自然灾害，突如其来，猝不及防，却也挽救了很多人被残酷的竞争而消磨掉的同情心。通过电视、新闻等媒介，了解到，刑释人员六天救了两名幸存者，他说，救人是对自己罪恶的救赎：来自看守所的捐款申请：“戴罪之人尽绵薄之力”。那一句“只要有一线希望，我们就要付出百倍的努力”，对于人民的生命，一诺千金，所以才有了被埋压100个小时的奇迹出现，接着又有了105个小时，127个小时被埋省生命的奇迹出现。
