只写静景，很容易使文章呆滞，而只写动景，又可能失去稳定。只有将静态描写景物形态特征和动态描写利于传神的长处结合起来，所绘景物才会具体、生动，给读者留下深刻的印象。
描写景物需要绘形、绘色、绘声，仿佛使人看得见、摸得着、听得到，这就需要尽可能选用那些生动形象的语言。因而要善于找到最能表现景物特征的动词和一些恰当的形容词，尤其要善于运用比喻、拟人等修辞方法，但要注意不能堆砌词藻。
