一天，小狗的.主人把一双大靴子放在小狗面前。这双靴子是主人送给它的礼物，小狗十分高兴。
小狗跑来跑去观察着大靴子。“好像不是玩具。”小狗自言自语的说道。“好像没有什么用处。”小狗又说道。突然，这双大靴子说起话来：“哼，我才不是没有用的东西。”小狗并没有听见靴子说话，在认真想着什么：会不会是给我磨牙的？我一直啃骨头啃得牙不好受，主人想给我磨牙？小狗这样想着便拿起一根鞋带来磨牙。
“喂！你别把我弄痛了！”靴子大吼。小狗被吓呆了，不一会儿缓过神来问：“那……你是用来干嘛的？”靴子还在生气：“不想理你！你之前说我没用处，现在还想用我来磨牙！”小狗回答：“你之前有听见我在说话吗？”“当然！难道你没听见我在说话？”靴子更生气了。小狗不知道怎么让靴子消气，只好道歉：“对不起，我不应该这么做。那你能告诉我主人为什么把你送给我吗？”靴子不再生气了，耐心回答道：“当然是要把我变成你的狗窝。这里面可暖和了，你不信可以试试看，我供你睡个好觉。”小狗半信半疑，它听靴子的意见跳进靴子里。“哇！真暖和真舒服啊！还以为是你骗我呢！”这下小狗相信了靴子。靴子回答：“我怎么可能骗你。”
不久，小狗就进入了甜美的梦乡，睡得熟熟的。当然，它们也成为了最好的朋友。
