独自一人骑着马走在乡间的小路上，马儿伴随着我漂泊它乡已经多日，它也渐渐瘦了下来，再没有往日的健壮与活力。
道路两边的老树，毫无生气地呆立在那里，大多数绿叶早已不知所踪，剩下的几片枯黄的残叶，在秋风中摇摇欲坠，做着垂挣扎。几根枯藤无力地缠绕着大树，发出哀伤的呻吟，那扭曲着的打在树干上的结仿佛也打在我的心中，阵阵痛楚让我欲哭无泪。
“吱—”天边传来一声乌鸦的叫声，显得如此凄凉，久久回荡在天地间，或许是觅食太少而太饿了吧。我何尝不想放声大叫，把心中的忧愁倾泻出来呢？
四周并无市俗的喧闹，汩汩的流水是那么的清澈，水声不断传入我的耳朵，一座小桥横跨在溪水的两岸，几处人家也映入我们的视野中，但却毫无别致之景，乡村之趣，显得平淡无奇。

突然，在小溪的那一边走来了一位年迈的老妇人，蹲坐在溪边，用瓢子来取水，老者看了她一会。正想走时，却被那老妇人发现了，她从小桥上缓缓的走过来，叫住老者说：“老先生那里去?”老者有气无力说：“我无家可归，又能去那呢?只是到前面走走，看看有没有可容我之地而已。”那妇人听了，急忙说：“既然如此，那不如到我家去坐坐。”老者犹豫的说：“我又无钱于你，恐怕你的家人会怪你。”“不怕不怕，我看啊，你一定是个读书人，而我家孙儿的老师正好刚走了，你大可帮我的孙子上上一个晚上的课，明日再走也不迟。况且这天色已晚，这路上到处都是乱石枯藤，十分不好走。”老妇人赶忙说。老者盛情难却，只好依了那妇人。于是那老妇人欢欢喜喜的把老者带进那间小木屋。
一进门，老者就感受到了温馨的家庭氛围，只见一个健壮的青年人抱着一个6岁多的小孩子，走上前来，说：“妈，天都黑了你还出去干什么?这位客人是您带回来的么?”老妇人点点头说：“儿子啊，快生火做饭，别怠慢了客人。”老者看到他们是那么的温馨，又想到自己是那么的落魄，无家可归，心中影影做痛，便说了声“不用了”就走出了小木屋，继续走在古道上……。
