墨子在前往北方齐国的路途中，遇见了一位以卜卦算命为业的陰陽先生。陰陽先生对墨子说：“天帝正好是今天在北方屠 黑龙，而先生的皮肤是黑色的，所以千万不要到北方去。”
墨子没有听信陰陽先生的这一套，毅然继续向北前行。可是在到达山东的淄（zi）水南岸后，适逢河水猛涨，无法摆渡，于是只好原路返回。
陰陽先生再次见到墨子时，不无得意地炫耀：“我不早就对您说过嘛，先生不要到北方去。现在的事实果然证明，我的预言是正确的。”
墨子对此不以为然，他反驳说：“现在是南方的人不能到北方去，北方的人也不能到南方来。其实，他们的肤色各不相同，有的黑，有的白，为什么都不能如愿呢？这只是因为淄水猛涨形成了阻隔的缘故啊。况且依照你的理论，天帝每逢甲日乙日在东方屠 青龙，逢到丙日丁日就在南方屠 赤龙，逢到庚日辛日就在西方屠 白龙，逢到壬日癸日就在北方屠 黑龙。如此说来，天下之人就都不能出门远行了。这样做，既违背了人的意愿，又将使得天下空虚，一事无成。所以，你的虚妄之言实在是听不得啊！”
墨子用朴素的唯物主义观点批驳了陰陽先生的迷信妄说，这种建立在尊重科学、尊重事实基础上的大无畏精神，是值得学习 和发扬的。

苏轼在一次夜读中忽然听到一阵老鼠啃东西的声音。他估计这声音是从床 下传出来的，于是用手在床 上使劲地拍打了几下，想借此把老鼠吓跑。然而这种办法收效并不大，仅仅安静了一会，老鼠又不停地啃起东西来了。
夜里老鼠啃东西的声音既令人心烦，又让人恼怒，因此，苏轼吩咐书童去捉老鼠。
书童端着烛台往床 下一照，发现咕唧咕唧的声音是从一个被绳子系住了口的严实袋子里发出的，于是高兴地说道：“哈哈，老鼠被关在袋子里面了，它还能往哪儿跑呢？”书童小心翼翼地解开系紧袋口的绳子，只让袋口露出一条狭窄的缝隙，试图等老鼠刚一露头就捉住它。可是书童等呀等呀，不仅没有等到老鼠出来，而且连一点响声也听不到了。因此，他感到非常奇怪。为了弄个水落石出，书童打开袋口，端起蜡烛把袋子里面照了个通亮。他发现袋中一动不动地躺着一只老鼠。书童惊讶地说道：“这真是怪事！刚才这袋子里分明有一只啃东西的活老鼠，它怎么会突然间去呢？如果这只老鼠刚才就是一只老鼠，那么啃东西的声音难道是鬼发出来的吗？”
好奇心驱使书童进一步往下追究。他两手抓着袋底把袋子往上一提，然后用力抖了几下，想把袋子抖落一空，看个结果。可是袋子里面除了老鼠没有旁物。他只听见老鼠落地“嘭”地一响，还没来得及去捡那只鼠，却看到鼠突然复活，一溜烟就逃走了。
苏轼被老鼠的吵闹折腾了半天，结果老鼠把他的书童弄了一个措手不及就溜掉了，因此心里很不愉快。他恨恨地说道：“想不到一只老鼠有这么狡猾！它无法咬破坚固的袋子逃跑，就用啃咬之声 招人来解开袋口；当你守候在袋口伺机去捉它的时候，它却装蒙骗你放松警惕。一个小动物耍出的狡猾花招居然骗得过人，这实在是一件令人可恨的事情！”
一只老鼠，其体能和智能远不是人类的对手，但是这不等于说人类与一个弱小的对手相比，没有自己的短处。书童因为只看到了人类具有思维能力的长处，而忽视了老鼠求生的乖巧和逃生的敏捷，所以被弱小的对手所捉弄。这一故事告诉我们，谦虚谨慎、不骄不躁的作风，不仅是一个人取得节节长进的关键，而且是排除各种困难、克敌制胜的法宝。

Visiting the Zoo
Yesterday was Sunday and it was a fine day.My parents and I visited the zoo.We went by bus.We started out at 8:00 in the morning and got there at 8:30.There were many people in the zoo.Some were watching the animals,some were playing games and others were resting under the trees.We went to watch the birds first.Then we came to see the monkeys.They were very lovely.We also saw the tigers and the lions.We saw many animals in the zoo.We felt very happy.
