在很久以前，匈奴入侵中原。他们怕中原人反抗，就把中原人三户编成一“保”，九户编成一“甲”。如果有一人反抗，就把这三户、甚至九户的人全都掉。中原人为了推翻匈奴的统治，准备起义。起义的组织者就在八月十五的前几天往各家各户送饼，饼里藏着一个纸条儿，上面写着：“八月十五晚鞑子!”还在饼上扎一个眼儿，以便提醒大家。
到了八月十五的晚上，汉人们不约而同地拿起菜刀、斧头、耙子和木棍，从四面八方冲向匈奴的大本营。这时，匈奴们正在蒙头大睡，让汉人们给了个干干净净。
为了纪念这次胜利，以后每年的八月十五人们都吃月饼，并定这一天为中秋节。
中秋节，是一个纪念反侵略的伟大节日。

王母娘娘就给了后羿一包“不药”，据说吃了这药能永远年轻。可这件事情却恰好被后羿的学生--蓬蒙听见了。蓬蒙便想偷偷吃下不药。可那包不药被嫦娥藏在了她的梳妆台里。而后羿整天又不离开妻子半步，这可怎么偷呀？蓬蒙苦思冥想。终于，有天后羿又出去打猎了，蓬蒙抓住这个机会，手持宝剑向嫦娥要不药。嫦娥没有办法解脱，只好把药自己吞吃下去。立刻嫦娥就成了仙，飘到了月亮上。后羿回来后，发现不药和妻子都不见了，他又找不到凶手。只好设下台子(桌子摆上自制的月饼，遥寄在月的嫦娥。后来便有了中秋赏月吃月饼这个习俗。
