转眼来得到了2050年的厦门，这里正召开第五十四届中国国际投资贸易洽谈会，而我也被邀请参加论坛发言。
这时的我已经是中国能源再生利用研究室的教授了，由我代表中国向国际能源专家展示绿色节能城市——厦门的风采。
首先我向嘉宾介绍了可利用太阳能、风能的机器——太阳能吸收收集器、风能吸收收集器。近50年来，因人类过度地消耗着那些不可再生的能源，世界上可利用的不可再生能源逐渐减少。而太阳的能量很大，据估算哪怕只有百分之一的光能被利用起来，就足够满足世界能源需求量的六倍。因此，我发明了太阳能收集器，无论把它安装在任何电器上，它都能在白天吸收太阳的光能，将它转换成电，储存起来，留到晚上使用。风能收集器起到一样的效果。它们的启动方法很简单，只要太阳一出来或者起风了，它们就自动开始收集能源，并且储存、转化成电能、机械能。
在洽谈会上，我发明的太阳能吸收收集器及风能吸收收集器的隆重登场使得那些外国嘉宾目瞪口呆。因为，他们以为体形庞大的收集器其实只比戒指大了一点点，我向他们解释道：“因为石油已经在20年前宣告用尽了，成千上万辆的汽车已无用武之地，我就发明了这个能让普通汽车也能上路的小玩意儿，因为我怕过度的重量将使太阳能在使用中快速消耗，为了减轻负担，所以我就压缩这个机器的体积。”那些嘉宾们无不为我的周全考虑拍手叫好。
然后，我又向他们介绍了流动的线条——城市路灯。早在2009年的秋季，厦门在全国，率先在路面下安装吸热设计，通过管线把汽车与路面摩擦产生的热量传送给吸热电池，把动能转化为电能，用这些电来维持道路两旁的电灯照明。经过40年的努力，现在厦门的所有路灯都设计成可利用风能、太阳能、地热能的特色路灯，产生的电能不仅提供路灯的使用，剩余的电能还可以提供马路两旁的商店照明呢。
随后，我说到，厦门垃圾焚烧发电厂大大小小总数已达18座，每个区至少都有2座。垃圾发电是把各种垃圾收集后，进行分类处理。一是对燃烧值较高的进行高温焚烧，在高温焚烧中产生的热能转化为高温蒸气推动涡轮机转动，使发电机产生电能。二是对不能燃烧的有机物进行发酵、厌氧处理，最后干燥脱硫产生甲烷，再经燃烧，把热能转化为蒸气，推动涡轮机转动，带动发电机产生电能，每天可发电60万千瓦，供城市生活使用。垃圾已经能做到变废为宝了。
我又向嘉宾展示了厦门环东海域片区和五缘湾片区太阳能、海水源热泵、潮汐能的使用情况；翔安片区海水源热泵、太阳能、风力发电情况；海沧片区潮汐能、太阳能、风能的使用情况，还有厦门的空气污染指数年平均为35，达到优的水平。
最后我的发言在优美的《鼓浪屿之波》音乐声中，伴随着屏幕上美丽厦门风光图片，以及来宾们热烈的鼓掌声中结束。
