One day, Paula and Richard decided to make a kite.
First they went out and found two straight sticks of the same length. They brought them back home and tied them with a piece of string into the shape of a cross. Then they took some string and used it to tie the four ends of the sticks together. Then, they spread some brightly coloured paper over the frame and glued it around the string.They stuck a tail made of paper to one of the corners, and tied a long string to the centre of the kite.
On the next windy day, they took the kite to a hill near their house and flew it.

渔夫看见了这两个孩子安然无恙地睡在了自已的孩子的身边，终于放下心来，他并没有感到困惑，因为他明白：穷人与穷人的心是一样的，都能理解、同情、关心、帮助穷人。桑娜重新把帐子拉好，放下手中的活儿，熄了灯，对渔夫说：“睡吧，明天……”“没事的，我们总能熬过去的！”渔夫拍了拍桑娜的肩，见桑娜闪出一丝忧虑，打断了她的话。
第二天早上，风不再吼得那么凶了，浪不再鸣得那么响了，渔夫和桑娜起得格外早，他们不由自主地又去了一趟西蒙的小屋，把西蒙草草地葬好，开始迎接新一天的生活。他们回到家，孩子们醒来了，西蒙的两个很小的孩子大声哭着。虽然他们俩都还不会说话，但谁都懂得他们要找妈妈，桑娜只得骗他们说妈妈出去赚钱了，别看他们年龄小，似乎都明白了桑娜的话，不哭了，也不闹了，同桑娜的孩子们玩起来。一切似乎都有条不紊地进行着，看来这并不怎么难熬。晚上，孩子们睡下了，渔夫打了一鱼网的鱼回来了。这一天就算过完了。
一天、两天过去了，一个月、两个月过去了，一年、两年过去了。西蒙的两个孩子开始习惯了这样的生活，把西蒙淡忘了，和桑娜的'孩子们成了好朋友、好兄弟。而渔夫和桑娜刚开始挺得过去，可是这么长的日子下来，都疲乏了，但依然支撑着这家，照顾着孩子们，尽管这是那么艰辛，他们也没有抱怨过什么。
又是一个寒风呼啸的夜晚，汹涌澎湃的海浪拍击着海岸，溅起一阵阵浪花。桑娜听着波涛的轰鸣声和狂风的怒吼声，想着丈夫清早驾着小船出海，这时还没回来，感到心惊肉跳。这情景与西蒙的那个夜晚相似得可怕，桑娜的心中有一种不祥的预感，心不在焉地看着孩子们，久久地坐在床前。
桑娜的预感是对的，渔夫从那天以后再也没有回来。桑娜几乎彻底崩溃了，这个家没有了依靠。一个坚定的信念让桑娜勉强地支撑着，那就是七个孩子。
一个星期后的一个夜晚，一切都是那么宁静，桑娜帮孩子们最后盖好一次被子，便永远永远地躺下了……至于这七个孩子，也只能静静地睡着，他们才那么小──最大的不过五岁，没有人有能力去同情他们了……
难到这就是穷人们悲惨的命运吗！

these young people are wrong. in my opinion every student should have a knowledge of housework. after all, they will have a family of their own, and they should do their part in keeping a good home. boys should also learn to do housework, for what will they do if they remain single? though not all boys remain single, yet they will be very helpful in the family if they know some housework. anyhow they will not lose anything, but, on the contrary, they will gain something useful.
for what i said above, we can find some eamples of our fellow-students studying abroad. all young men do housework as girls do. someone would argue that we can employ servants. this is true. however, what shall we do if the servant leaves us and all things are left to ourselves? we just cannot leave our clothes as they are and let worms and ants eat them up. and what can we do it we go and study in a foreign country where servants are out our means to employ? we must work for ourselves. why not start to learn to do housework now or else it will be too late? everyone should learn to do housework. what do you think about my idea, boys and girls?
