小狐狸卡尔塔又坐在树洞口吹他的笛子。笛声悠扬清澈，像潺潺的溪流，滋润着春天的心。
早晨的阳光照在卡尔塔身上，他那红色的尾巴柔软地搭在身后的枯树枝上。枯树枝横七竖八地掩盖着洞口，有这样一间舒适的房子是大家都很羡慕的。
“你这样的狐狸是人人都喜欢的。”这话是住在空心大树上的啄木鸟说的。啄木鸟一天到晚飞东飞西，见多识广，他的.话很有说服力。不过，卡尔塔听了这话，并不觉得十分得意，他很谦虚。那时候，他刚学吹笛子，笛声像正在撕破碎布片，刺啦刺啦的，难听极了。但是，早晨和黄昏卡尔塔都会坐在洞口吹笛子。“吹笛子能当饭吃吗?”大伙儿善意地劝他，可卡尔塔只是笑笑，他是一只不怕失败的狐狸。
功夫不负有心人，后来，那些动听的音乐就从笛孔里流了出来。卡尔塔似乎感到周围充满了太阳的光芒，他走进了音乐的殿堂，一切都显得那么美好。他回想起童年，温暖的胸怀紧紧地拥抱着他，他的妈妈——一只漂亮的红狐狸尽心尽力地哺育他。可是有一天，一场罕见的暴风雨把他们分开，妈妈不知下落、影踪全无。卡尔塔过着孤单而寂寞的日子……
卡尔塔长叹了一口气，那些阴沉的日子又像黑云一样压下来。突然，他停下来，看着右前方。荫纳儿就住在那个方向。荫纳儿是一只美丽的狐狸。她的眼睛很亮，嘴唇薄薄的。卡尔塔总会偷偷地溜到她的身边，跟她聊天。“我今天吹的是一首新曲子：花儿馨香，虫儿飞舞，景色真美好。我想把天上的白云拼成幸福的模样……”不知道她喜欢吗，卡尔塔想。
“喂，喂，”荫纳儿喊着，“卡尔塔，该吃饭了。”卡尔塔故意装作没听见，还是吹着他的笛子。没想到她这么关心我，卡尔塔心里像吃了蜜，甜津津的。
“你不饿吗?”荫纳儿站在他面前问。
卡尔塔摇摇头。
“你吹得越来越好了，我很喜欢听。”荫纳儿的眼睛亮起来。
“是吗?”卡尔塔很高兴，终于有了第一个知己。他激动地想把整个乐曲讲给她听， “嗯，曲子里有…一有……”
“再吹一首新曲子吧。”荫纳儿打断了他的话。
卡尔塔又幸福地吹响另一首曲子：
“小鸟，小鸟，心里有太多的希望。虽然雨水打湿了翅膀，希望有人撑着雨伞，为它遮挡……”
“我听出来了，”荫纳儿站起来，“里面好像有小鸟的叫声呢!我去种菜了，谢谢你!”她告别了卡尔塔。卡尔塔有点失望，望着荫纳儿的背影，飞舞的虫儿、雨中的小鸟、天上的白云越来越模糊了……
卡尔塔又吹了一首曲子。“我很匆忙，但脸上漾出笑的模样……”他希望荫纳儿能听得见。
“你这样的狐狸是人人都喜欢的。”卡尔塔想起了啄木鸟的话。
傍晚，天上的灰云像无家可归的孩子，飘来飘去。卡尔塔拿着笛子坐在树洞口，心里很难过。他想起小时候，妈妈总是把香喷喷的饭端到他面前。可是，现在他只能支着下巴望着天上不断变幻的云……
卡尔塔还沉浸在回忆之中，荫纳儿却出现在他面前。“卡尔塔，吹一首欢快的曲子吧。”
卡尔塔吹响笛子：“记得你说那年冬天天太冷，有我在你身边，你感到温暖……”欢快的乐曲潺潺流过……
荫纳儿高兴极了：“你吹得美极啦，你真是一位了不起的音乐家!”卡尔塔敫动又自豪。
天上的灰云不见了，露出了亮晶晶的星星。这些闪烁的小家伙正眨着眼睛朝卡尔塔笑呢!
“我马上回来，等我啊!”荫纳几站起来，挥挥手，像一朵飘忽的云，轻盈、洒脱。
这就是幸福吧，卡尔塔想，有人欣赏，有人关心，哪里还有什么寒冷和悲伤呢?
“真香啊……”卡尔塔突然闻到了饭菜的香味。眼前的荫纳儿端着饭菜，正冲卡尔塔微笑。卡尔塔觉得荫纳儿变得模糊起来。哦，是泪水吧，感动的泪水已经充盈了他的眼眶……
从那之后，每天清晨和傍晚，树洞口都有两只小狐狸，一只在吹笛子，一只在他旁边静静地听着。卡尔塔觉得自己是世界上最幸福的狐狸!
