奶奶穿的衣服都是缝了又缝，补了又补。俗话说：衣服新三年，旧三年，缝缝补补又三年。新衣服都是先最大的孩子穿起，穿不到了再给小的穿。还有一个规定，新衣服都是要在过年的第一天穿，穿完了再放回去。鞋都是草鞋和布鞋，走起路来很不方便。这时我想起了自己几乎每天都穿新衣服，脚下穿著名牌球鞋，这些东西在这些老百姓眼中是一种无比的奢望。
以前奶奶家的房子都是用泥做的，又破又黑，看上去摇摇欲坠。家中只有十几平方米卧室，要容纳五，六人。这听起来好像不可能，可奶奶的姐妹全都睡在这窄小的房间里，奶奶家舍不得买蜡烛，只能用煤油灯。家中没有电，没有书桌，只有一张简陋的床。
