这则漫画讲了：一名伐木工手拿斧子，嘴刁烟卷，正起劲的一下一下的砍伐着身旁的树木。这是，一只啄木鸟飞了过来，停在了伐木工的脖子上，摇了一下脑袋，便啄起了伐木工的木头脑袋，便啄还边想：“这段木头里一定有虫！”
这漫画形象的讽刺了不保护环境的举止，与作者呼吁保护环境成鲜明的对比。伐木工脑袋的形状可以充分的表现出伐木工不开窍。这则漫画主要中心思想是让人们保护好身边的一草一木，早晨人们晨练时将腿搭在树上；小孩子随手拔下一朵花，在树上刻下字体……这些事例都要给人一些严厉的教训。火山爆发、地震、洪水……这些都是大自然给予人类的教训，它们是因为人类无知或有意的想法才形成的。所以，今天的我们要保护好地球，保护好我们自己！
因为它们，让我们的生活多姿多彩；因为它们，让孩子们天真的笑容时刻挂在脸上；因为她，才有了这个世界，才有了我们。我们的母亲早已白发苍苍、伤痕累累。这时，我们才应该尽自己地球子女的身份，去保护好地球，爱护好她的每一寸角落。将地球——可爱的母亲，她的躯体，她的灵魂守护好。保护环境，人人有责！
