初入官场的陈廷敬学识渊博，见解独到，为许多人赏识，但其正直，倔强的性格也为其惹下了诸多麻烦，多次险遭生之祸。通过父亲的告诫，岳父的劝诫和自身的感悟得出了“等、忍、稳”的行为准则，逐渐在官场站稳了脚跟，后又被逼出了“狠”，得以参倒政敌，一展抱负，最后借助夫人的“隐”得以全身而退。这些为官之道让人不得不感叹他的韬略过人也对当时的官场生态唏嘘不已。
作为康熙王朝五十多年的政坛不倒翁，陈廷敬曾说过：“我只能做我做到的事情，做不到的事我要是硬去做，就什么事也做不了”，可见做个好人难，做个有作为的好官更难。好人正直善良，注重名节，不愿被非议，可很多的时候，人不做违心的事，很难做成大事造福百姓的事；往往做大事时遇到的对手都是阴险狡诈之人，所以需要同时具备高绝的政治智慧，辽阔的城府，强硬的手腕，忍受常人不能忍耐，处理问题恰到好处。
目前山西处在一个特殊的历史发展时期，怎样扫除社会雾霾，净化山西政治生态，是每一位基层党员应当思考政治问题，树立“弊革风清，廉洁为民”的责任担当意识，是每一位三晋儿女家国情怀的具体体现，只有筑牢廉洁的思想防线，党员的战斗堡垒作用才能引领社会健康发展。而读书学习恰是净化心灵，洗涤生态雾霾，释放正能量的有力作为。
作为检察系统党组织，更是承担着司法部门内部党建桥头堡的作用，责任重于泰山，我们要创新教育模式，做好基层党建工作，真正使党员干部敬畏法律，敬畏权力，树立正确的权力观，做好全心全意为人民服务，真正做到执法为民，廉洁为公。

在读书这个问题上，我控制不来我的思维。有时候买书时明明喜欢的回家看上两眼丢在一旁，而有的书简直是饥渴之读。曾经考虑是不是因为晦涩难读才有此感觉，多次试过之后方知不是，决定权在书中。看这本书还是王岐山副总理推荐的，当然是看报纸上来的，如果能直接面荐，我不得了噢了！此书两天读完，疯狂直至，收获非浅……
清朝的历史在人们的视觉上和听觉上已不再新鲜，即使不学史的人也能评说一二，如果还按老套路出牌，终觉无滋味。作者挖掘新意，此相国听为初次——陈廷敬，以康熙朝为背景，着重官场的尔虞我诈，勾心斗角，是是非非，影射现今，不失是一部好作品。
“三年清知府，十万雪花银”，贪，在历朝历代皆为本色，不贪反而为特色，只是清朝更为突出。陈廷敬这方面洁身自好，一是家里出身殷实，另一个就是自律较好。两者虽说都很重要，但后者更为突出，有多大的胸怀能成多大的事，自律为本。书中陈廷敬的弟弟两次收钱也是因为交际之用，也并不本质上的问题。从这一点看来，当官者是不是也能从家庭资产考虑，见过钱和没见过钱的反映出来是不一样的。人到四十就有所考虑了，就会为以后着想。我以前不承认，现今还没到四十，就开始准备养老的钱了。不信你试试看，人到中年你做事情就不会激进了。
人生只要努力总是有机会的。陈廷敬的发迹是因为个人的优秀才干，而且两次化险为夷都与此有关。再加上以后卫相书告诉他要学会“等”都有关系。你要想生命不白白度过，就要在上学期间打下良好的基础。当然这是有普遍性的，也不否认没上过学能有好的发展——只是少数。你要有与众不同的东西在身，随时提供脱颖而出的力量。可以说如果你能为别人带来利益或者其他什么的，你才有可能出人头地，生命才可能绽放光彩。这就是说“等”不是每个人都有机会的，这个机会是有条件的。陈廷敬是有此基础的，各种条件具备齐全，只差东风了。
不站队。面对各种的利益团伙，陈廷敬始终不与为伍。螯拜一伙争取陈廷敬，索尼也在争取，陈廷敬看的清楚，要想能长久就要那边都不涉及。我觉得索尼有句话说得好“皇帝最不可信”。皇帝终究是个人，是人就有缺陷，就有偏好。终究不如制度，即使制度也是靠人来执行的，还有薄彼，何况一个人。说起来简单说起来难了，这是一辈子的功夫，坚持下来不容易。皇上评价“宽大老成，几近完人”。
踏实做事。不徇私，不枉法，本色做事是陈廷敬的特色。而且在各种事上能独立思考不忍云亦云，是相国之料。现在讲过——能透过现象看到本质。作为文人出身，能明察秋毫，果断从事，有强人风格。刚柔相济，方可有成。刚者易断，柔者不成事。陈廷敬恰到好处，拿捏准确，佩服佩服！
至于到后来玩弄权术引发互相弹劾，也是那些人罪有应得。老话说“不是不报，时候未到”。我始终认为一个人在社会能做到如此地步，且是一辈子，真是不容易。
以前我总是认为，置身一个大的权力场，不是哪一个人能抵挡的住的。谁在那个权力中心都回贪占枉法，是凡人都躲不过，看过这本书就有新的认识了，凡人也可以做到。
