I went to the countryside to spend my summer holidays this year. I liked green plants, clear rivers and lovely amimals there.I breathed the fresh air on the mountain and sometimes I went swimming in the river. I kept a diary every day.
I liked not only the scene of the countryside, but also the people there. I helped them to do farm work. I also helped the children in the neighbourhood with their lessons. The children were interested in English. They were good at reading and writing, but did not do well in listening and speaking. I helped them improve their listening and speaking. Their parents thought highly of me. I realized that knowledge is greatly needed in the countryside.

summer can be very hot in southern taiwan where the temperature usually goes up to 32"c or more. because of the heat it is a trying experience to go to school or do anything else in a place that is not air-conditioned. also because of this i stay at home most of the time during the summer vacation and only occasionally go to the beach to plunge myself into the cool water as a way to keep my body less sticky.
actually i like swimming and think nothing is more refreshing than a swim. in the summer vacation that has just ended i went swimming many times with my classmates and we all had a good time. this summer vacation, however, was not spent entirely in seeking fun. as a second-year senior student i had to prepare myself for the college entrance examinations that were only a year away. in other words, i must find time to study, too.
so i divided my time between work and play during the summer vacation and derived much benefit from this arrangement.

爸爸指着其中最大的一盆对我说：“它的名字叫‘鸿运当头’，这种花的叶子细细长长的，中间红色的部分是它的花瓣，象征着吉祥如意，因此它很受人们的喜欢。”听着听着我又被旁边的一盆绿色植物吸引住了，它的叶子很厚，而且挨挨挤挤，十分茂密。它的茎呈红色，茎上还分了好多的叉，难怪它的叶子那么密呢。我越看越喜欢，便问爸爸：“这盆花叫什么名字呀？”“这可不是花，它是一种草，名字叫‘小家碧玉。’”这时我还发现“小家碧玉”的旁边还有一个小不点儿，它就像一座座连绵起伏的群山，有高有低，它的身上还长着好多的刺。我心想：这应该是仙人掌的一种吧。于是我对爸爸说：“这是仙人掌吗？它好像一座座山呀。”爸爸听了笑着说：“你真聪明，这小不点叫‘万重山’。”看着面前的这几盆花花草草，我奇怪地问：“为什么不都买花呢？”妈妈走过来说：“因为小草的生命力比小花顽强，更容易照顾。”
这时，我暗暗下定决心：今后一定要像小草那样顽强，更要好好照顾这些花草，让它们和我一起成长。

祝你生日快乐，祝你生日快乐。这熟悉的旋律，相信每个人都听到过吧。
又是一年，好棒啊！我又要迎接那一年一次亲爱的生日了，还记得上一年的生日我还得了好多礼物呢，现在一想起来就偷笑，哈哈哈哈，迟到的礼物赚了赚了。我还沉浸在美好的幻想中，不知今年会收到什么。
果然，我的生日如期来了。哈哈，我一大早就起床了，兴致勃勃得人家还以为我是神经病呢。我怀着期待的心情迎接那亲爱的礼物。七点了，没礼物。七点十五分，没礼物。七点四十，没礼物。八点，没礼物……我苦苦等到了中午，有人来了，哈哈哈，终于有人记得我生日了。原来是妈妈，可结果并不是我想的那样，妈妈只是经过我，径自走了。我感觉我头顶有只乌鸦飞过，愣了好一阵子，我只差哭了。咋回事，咋回事，难道他们真忘了我生日？不会的，不会的，他们一定要给我一个惊喜。恩！就是这样，没错了。
可不幸的是，呜——迟到的礼物我又错了。我等到了晚上，可还是没有一个人来，连句话也没有。今天特别累，我倒在床上，“绝望”的闭上眼迟到的礼物。睁开眼，头顶的太阳还是那么亮，好象个蛋糕呢，呵呵。妈妈进来了，突然冒出一句“今天你生日。”我嘴巴掉到了地上，啥？那昨天是什么，不会吧，是我搞错了！额，今天对于昨天的我还真是一份迟到的礼物啊。
这生日还真是快乐啊。

At college, I missed my parents a lot. As the term was drawing to an end, I eagerly looked forward to going home. And I planned to do a thousand and one things during the vacation. She completely deprived me of sharing her work. As soon as I opened a book to read,she would sit down beside me and ask me about all kinds of things at the college. To please her,I told her one thing after another,and soon I forgot all about books. Even when I was actually reading,she would, now and then,insist that I should eat an egg or drink a cup of tea. When I left home at the end of the vacation, not a thing in my plan had been carried out. But I felt very happy. I believed much more deeply than before in the old saying: Home, sweet home. There’s no place like home!
