历史的长河缓缓流淌，流经那个百家争鸣的时代。春秋战国时期，一场影响古今中外的论战华丽地拉开了序幕。诸子百家为了各自的阶级利益展开激烈的论战：儒家倡“仁”，法家倡“法”，墨家倡“兼爱”，道家倡“道”……尽管诸子百家的观点各有差异，但他们却仍然尊重这些差异的存在。于是，思想的碰撞创造出更为强烈的火花，为后世留下了一份宝贵的精神财富。若没有尊重彼此之间的差异，诸子百家中仅剩下一家，那我们的中华文化将会变得苍白。因此，尊重差异是文化发展不可缺少的条件。
历史的长河继续流淌，来到那个举国同庆的时代。新中国成立之初，我国实行了民族区域自治制度。中国尊重各少数民族之间的文化、饮食、宗教等方面的差异，让各少数民族拥有了一定的自治权。正因为尊重差异，中国民族迸发出更强大的民族凝聚力，它使得我国社会主义建设有了一个稳定的社会环境。若没有尊重差异，一个民心涣散的国家还能求发展图富强吗？由此可见，尊重差异是国家发展的重要条件。
如今，尊重差异在教育方面却远远做得不够。国家总督学顾问、教育家陶西平抨击中小学作文教学中的弊端。他说：“现在中小学教师在作文教学中教学生‘母亲都是善良的’，所以每个孩子都写了一个虚拟的母亲”。看着一代又一代孩子背诵着同样的妈妈踯躅独行，是一种悲哀。在我看来，妈妈在每个人的心中都是不同的，她可能有点小气，可能很温柔，也可能有点凶。但为什么不尊重每个母亲的差异，而仅仅套用“母亲是善良的”这一固定的套路呢？尊重差异在教育改革的途中变得越发重要。
自古洎今，尊重差异是我们永远也不应该忽视的问题。唯有尊重差异，才能推动文化的繁荣，才能促进国家发展，才能推动教育的改革。因此，我们每个人都应尊重差异，构建纷繁世间。

在经济全球化的世界，文化多样性是一个基本特征。这就需要我们尊重差异，理解个性，促进世界文化繁荣，辩证地看待差异，博采众长，方能共享谐。
