狗的孩子们都长大了，老伴也去世多年，狗想去闯世界。他就把房子卖给了老驴，独自上路了。在路上他遇见了没有幸运感的猪，狗问猪想做什么？猪说他想当歌剧明星。够就带着猪来到一家剧院，找到老板，老板给他们俩两张台词，狗先不背自己的台词，而是先帮猪背，等猪背会了再背自己的。到了演喜剧的时候，狗演了一集就不演了，于是，猪终于当上了明星。狗为猪骄傲，随后就独自上路了。
我觉得书里的狗和我一样善良、勇敢。猪也是一只很幸运的猪，因为他有了一个像狗这样的好朋友，在遇到困难的时候会帮助他。我非常喜欢看这本书。
