盲目的创新往往会弄巧成拙，让人传为笑谈。君不见那“邯郸学步”的郑国人，总想学习别人的步法，以便自己跟本国的人走路不一样，似乎是创新了，但是动机不纯，方法不对，不知继承，落了个爬回去的下场。前几年的小品《如此包装》也是说的这个道理，本来评剧便是一门值得继承的艺术，可是那个“总监”非要进行“创新”，将原来风马牛不相及的流行音乐与民族艺术强行配伍，结果是可想而知的。那“创新”出来的“四不像”让我们津津乐道了好些年。若不得要领，便很容易犯同样的错误。
继承和创新是雨与水的关系，没有了继承如同只有鱼没有水，再好的创新也会成为空中楼阁，不会有长久的生命力;而只有水没有鱼似乎更表现出只有继承没有创新的寂，毫无生气。只有鱼和水统一在一起，才会变得有生气。正如创新和继承完美地结合在一起，才会结出成功的果实一样。
创新是重要的，但是继承同样是重要的。你要想获得成功，继承和创新是必不可少的。“问渠那得清如许，为有源头活水来。”没有了继承便是无源之水，而没有了创新便是一潭水，只有在继承的基础上创新，才会真的“清如许”了。
