东莞素有"荔枝之乡"的美誉，以色、香、味俱全的.荔枝而闻名中外，"食之令人畅然意满"的东莞荔枝被誉为"岭南第一品"。
东莞荔枝栽培历史悠久，《元一统志》、大德《南海志》均记有东莞荔枝，明天顺年间《东莞县志》卷一记载"荔枝色如渥丹"，味甘如饴，其种不一，盖岭南之佳品也。
东莞荔枝的主要品种有糯米糍、桂味、妃子笑、三月红、黑叶、槐枝等传统优良品种，近几年又培育出红绣球、无核荔枝等新品种。值得一赞的是大岭山镇的糯米糍荔枝，以其个大、皮薄、肉多、果甜、味浓的特点而享誉中外，曾获全国首届农业博览会金质奖和北京国际农业博览会金奖。
石龙麦芽糖的主要原料并不是麦芽，而是糯米。东莞糯米米质特别优良，加上有精巧的传统工艺，所以制出来的麦芽糖特别好。盛麦芽糖的容器也很别致，它是一个陶瓷有盖的圆盅，每盅盛一斤左右的麦芽糖。麦芽糖入满盅后，即行上盖加封，再贴上商标。这里的麦芽糖，品质优良，呈金黄色且透明，味道清甜目带蜜味。
常吃麦芽糖，可以开胃消滞，滋补养颜，清心润肺;可以治疗肺气肿、胃病;又可作调味品，烧烤、腊味都需要麦芽糖。
虎门镇地处珠江口东岸，珠江河与南海咸淡水交汇处。全镇有近22公里长的海岸线，沿海地区土地大部分属基围田地带，传统上以种植咸水草为主，因此，历来虎门盛产麻虾。虎门麻虾以其肉质鲜嫩、爽脆可口而远近闻名。
