千百年来，在人们眼里，命运是神秘莫测，不可把握，无法控制的饿一种神秘力量，是主宰人们一生的至高无上的主任，而人类则永远是命运的仆人和奴隶，半个世纪以前，一位比利时智者莫里斯梅特林克先生告诉我们，人们是完全可以成为命运的主任而非奴隶，这种能够把握，主宰和战胜命运的首要条件就是自信。因此，我认为自信是成功的基石。
一个人要自信，就要克服自卑，树立自信。1951年，英国女医生弗兰克林从自己拍摄X射线衍射中发现了DNA双螺旋结构，经过研究，她大胆地提出了假设，并以此为题做了一次很出色的演讲，然而许多人对她的发现提出质疑，怀疑她的照片的真实性和假说的可靠性，在这些压力下，弗兰克林也开始怀疑自己：作为一个普通医生，提出这样高森的理论问题，或许太不自量力了吧？她动摇了。于是，她公开否认了自己提出的假说，也没有再继续研究下去，后来在1953年，其他科学家却证实了这个假说，不自信的弗兰克林与成功失之交臂了。

著名天文学家，自然科学先驱哥白尼，第一个对影响人类达千年之久的托勒玫地心说提出怀疑，否认。遭到无数千万人的反对及压迫，但他自始自终都相信自己的“是地球绕太阳旋转而非太阳绕地球旋转”的理论，也没有轻言放弃，最终，其日心说被应证了，哥白尼也成功了。如果，他在人们提出怀疑的'时候也怀疑自己的能力，他就不会有后来的成功。
自信是人生成功的奠基石，人的成功之路必须踏着自信的石阶步步登高。有了自信，人才能达到自己所期望达到的境界，才能成为自己所希望成为的人，坚持自己所追求的信仰。无论在什么情况下，自信者的格言都是：“我想我能够的，现在不能够，以后一定会能够的！”所以我们每个人务必要把自信送给自己！
