小鱼说：“这都是人类为了自己发展生产，搞活经济惹的祸。他们在山的周围建工厂，工厂排放的`黑烟污染了空气，烟雾中黑色的灰尘落到地面，污染了河水。还有些人把各种生活垃圾倒进了小河，所以小河就变成你现在看到的样子了。现在，我许多好伙伴都了，我也快不行了。燕姐姐，你能带我离开这讨厌的地方吗？”
小燕子说：“我很想带你走，可我没有这个能力呀！”
“哎！看来，我只有在这里等了。”小鱼叹了一口怨气。

命运接着说：“既然说是命运，那么还需要谁来控制呢?我不过是顺其自然，直的就往前推，率的就听任它。实际上，人们都是自寿自夭、自穷自达、自贵自贱、自富自贫，我哪里能够知道那么多呢?我怎么能管得了那么多呢?”
能力和命运的这段对话说明：力是进取之力，命是自然之命;力与命紧密相联，命与力因果相关;有什么样的能力，就会有什么样的命运;而“命”的最终取向，除了自身努力外，还必须借助自然的力量。
