人类为了生存所进行的资源及能源的开发和利用是完全必要的，但是所有开发和利用都应当从整个自然界，尤其是地球环境的生态系统，即所谓生物圈的平衡状况加以全面地和科学地考虑，然后再在保护自然环境、维持生态多样性的基础上，达到人和自然之间的协调。
当前，不但要加强和扩大那些具有原始性状，即受人类影响较少的生态系统，通过人为的保护和再建、使其维持原始的自然面貌，保持生态系统内部各要素的平衡，而且要重视人类在认识化学物质毒性问题上所取得的宝贵。
对于各种比学物质，从生产到废弃的整个过程，都要考虑一个防止污染环境的安全措施，更应当寻求无污染的生产方法，制取无毒性的化学产品，显然，这是给化学工作者提出的一个更高、更难的任务
我们一方面都在埋怨环境被污染，可是我们自己又何尝不是在污染环境呢!比如，我们一方面在大声疾呼抽烟有害健康，而另一方面又在大批量地生产和销售香烟。
我们一方面大力提倡不乱丢垃圾，另一方面我们在吃棒冰时往往随便地将包装纸扔在地上。
又比如，有些厂的老板把厂房装饰得美丽豪华，可是背地里却把污水、废水偷偷地源源不断地往河里排放……所以，尽管我们天天在宣传环境意识，可是污染环境，危害生物的现象仍然屡禁不止。
为什么会有这么多矛盾现象呢?我认为，关键在于很多人没有重视环境保护。
埋怨别人污染了环境，恰恰忘记了自己也在污染环境!所以在宣传保护环境时，还要加上“从我做起!”这后半句。
使环保意识真正在我们每个人的头脑里扎下根，使我们的所作所为时刻都在考虑保护环境。
