“凿冰捕鱼”主要介绍了鱼把头石大爷率领渔民在东北查干湖获得“自然的馈赠”的经过。所谓“凿冰捕鱼”就是在冰上打个洞，将绞盘固定在冰面上，通过牲口的拉力，将长达2千米的渔网放下去。至于放在什么地方，全凭鱼把头的丰富做出准确判断。定位不准，就捕不到鱼群。鱼把头石大爷从15岁起到现在77岁，一直“没离水，没离鱼”，积累了丰富的经验，在渔民中有很高的`威信。
