荷塘中的锦鲤有两条锦鲤精，为姐妹两人，均有四百年修行。其中姐姐黔凌日日夜夜面对浅溪，日久生情，不知不觉中爱上了浅溪。而妹妹舒愔却是一心一意想了浅溪，吸取他的生命，增加自己的修行。奈何大姐对他一往情深，她也曾劝姐姐断了这念头，人妖之恋是不可能的，但姐姐固执己见，坚决不肯，还发下狠话，若是她敢伤他，就别再念姐妹之情。
入夜，黔凌，舒愔姐妹遭到了鲫鱼精的袭击，舒愔身受重伤，化回原形。此时，浅溪的屋子走水了，黔凌看到，将舒愔带到安全的地方，又到浅溪的屋子里，救出了浅溪。而自己，因为刚刚打斗受了伤，又过于劳累，此时还为浅溪运功，数百年的修行净毁，连原型都化不回，便用自己最后的力气告诉浅溪：“人妖之恋是不可能的，这我知道，但，我喜欢你。”流下了泪，说完，黔凌的身体消失，灰飞烟灭。
第二天，浅溪醒来，对昨晚发生的事也只记得他的房子走水了，对黔凌的话全然不知，但还是像往常一样到荷塘边，发现池水干涸，莲叶都枯了，荷塘中的锦鲤也不知道哪里去了。
