6岁时，一场突如其来的车祸让他失去了双臂
24岁的许庆是河南平顶山市人，S6级游泳运动员。6岁时，一场突如其来的车祸让他失去了双臂，当时，还是孩子的许庆并没意识到，没有双臂对自己的人生将意味着什么。“孩子这么小，以后可怎么办呀?”母亲以泪洗面，带着他跑遍了各大医院，希望宝贝儿子能恢复得像健全人一样，享受生活的阳光，结果，却是一次又一次的失望。
一次偶然的对话，许庆开始了游泳运动生涯
面对现实，母亲告诉许庆，哪怕装假肢，也得让他有“双臂”。1999年，母亲带他来到一家生产假肢的工厂，准备购买假肢。碰巧，这家工厂的负责人是一位残疾人，获得过残疾人乒乓球世界冠军，就问许庆喜欢什么，听许庆说自己特别喜欢洗澡、玩水，这位负责人就建议许庆的母亲带孩子学游泳，让孩子残疾的肢体重新焕发生机。
回到平顶山后，许庆就被母亲就带去了游泳馆，可是，第一次看到泳池，他很害怕，退缩不敢下水。他又被母亲带到了田径场，可教练说他身体太单薄、练田径希望不大，于是，他又被送到了游泳馆。当时，平顶山市残联正在选拔、培养残疾人运动员，准备参加省残运会，为他推荐了启蒙教练马云鹏。从此，许庆就开始了游泳运动生涯。
不分昼夜的勤学苦练，许庆的进步非常明显
对于一个失去双臂的孩子而言，学习游泳，需要付出更多艰辛。健全人用两臂划水换气呼吸，许庆只能靠腰部的力量，游起来比一般人慢，还经常呛水;他也不能像别的孩子那样能双手扶着打水板下水，只能靠教练给他绑在腰上的浮背，慢慢地适应泳池……靠的是艰苦的训练，靠的是坚强的毅力。
在教练的系统指导和帮助下，加上自己不分白天黑夜地勤学苦练，许庆的进步非常明显。练习游泳不足两个月，他就参加了我省第四届残疾人运动会，并收获了一枚金牌、一枚银牌和一枚铜牌。
努力拼搏让他逐步取得了骄人成绩!
此后，在教练的悉心栽培下，努力拼搏的许庆，开始在国内残疾人游泳比赛中崭露头角。2004年全国残疾人游泳锦标赛上，他一举获得肢残S6级200米个人混合泳比赛的金牌和50米蝶泳银牌，并在这一年入选国家游泳队，几个月后，参加了2004年雅典残奥会，成为中国参加雅典残奥会年龄最小的运动员，这次出征，也让许庆给自己定下了日后在残奥会上夺金的目标。
2006年，许庆在马来西亚举行的.远南运动会上，斩获了三枚金牌、两枚银牌。2007年12月8日结束的世界残疾人游泳公开赛上，他又勇夺一枚金牌、一枚银牌和一枚铜牌。2008北京残奥会上，许庆获得了3枚金牌和一枚铜牌，再次证明了自己的实力。在2012年伦敦残奥会，他继续超越自己，取得了获得4枚金牌、打破4项世界纪录的骄人成绩。
从不幸失去双臂，到十几年的游泳运动生涯，许庆的最大收获就是：面对困难时，不再害怕!泳池中搏击，让他收获了自信，也收获了对人生的追求和希翼，就像他第一次在全国游泳比赛取得好成绩后安慰母亲的话：“我仍然可以非常棒，我要让您为我感到骄傲!”
