柴静在接受人民网采访时表示：“我自己曾经对雾霾无知无觉，现在我对空气有我的爱惜，所以我去找适合我的方式，比如尽量不开车，比如参与公众参与立法研讨会，与扬尘的工地交涉，打环保举报电话
12369，要求餐馆安装上法规要求安装的设备，要求加油站维修油气回收装置。我把这些也呈现出来，这些只是能做的一小部分事情。我相信，别人心底有自己的爱惜，有适合自己的实践。”

雾霾，看似与雾有“缘关系”，但它却和雾截然不同。雾，是由浮游在空中的小水滴或冰晶组成的水汽凝结物。有时雾出预报晴，有时雾出预报雨，似乎混乱不堪，但是只要掌握了辐射雾、平流雾的特征，多方观察，仔细分析，就能准确地抓住雾与天晴、落雨的规律，以便预测天气。这对于农业、交通、航天、航海都有用处。 而雾霾就不一样了，它是由空气中的灰尘、硫酸、硝酸、有机碳氢化合物等粒子所组成的小灰粒。
要说雾霾的害处----首先，长时间出现雾霾天气，容易导致呼吸道感染、心管疾病、哮喘、支气管炎……等众多疾病，对人体健康危害很严重。其次，在雾霾天气里，很容易发生车祸。空气中游浮的小灰粒让人们难以看清，在骑车或开车时，看不清对方也是常有的事，所以雾霾天气的出现也很容易让两车“亲密接触”。再次，有雾霾的时候，整个天空灰蒙蒙的，让人们心情很不好……
