春天到了，万物复苏，桃花开了，露出粉嘟嘟的脸庞；柳树绿了，美丽的头发垂在风中。
在一个大院儿里，一家的房檐下有一窝小燕子，叽叽喳喳地叫着，燕子妈妈正在忙着给孩子们喂食儿。小燕子们争先恐后地抢食吃，不料，一只羽翼尚未丰满的小燕子被挤出了窝，“叽————！”得一声落在地上，立刻被一只花猫盯上了。这一切，也很快引起了小姑娘小红的注意，她想起爸爸说燕子是益鸟，她很着急，转动乌黑的大眼睛想办法。房檐下的燕子一家看到有花猫，都着急地叫起来，可也无能为力。
只见小花猫贪婪地舔了舔嘴巴，两只眼睛正贼溜溜地盯着惊恐万分、上下扑打着翅膀的小燕子，心想，哈哈！这个小东西皮香肉嫩的，一定是美味可口。小红一见小花猫要走上前去，急得两眼张大，双脚直跺地，拿起书包准备打花猫，小花猫却抬起爪子，往前一扑，小红手上便出现了一道迹，手中的书包也掉在了地上。
可是小花猫好像还没有立刻去吃掉小燕子的念头，而是一脸坏笑地在小燕子身边走来走去，吓得小燕子胆战心惊、浑身发抖。小花猫一看，心想，嗯————是时候了。只见它摩拳擦掌，准备下手。在这时，小红趁小花猫得意忘形，随手拿起一要扫帚，劈头盖脸地往小花猫身上打去，小花猫一声惨叫，在地上打了个滚儿，虽然摇摇晃晃地站了起来，但还是不罢休地朝小燕子跑去，生怕美餐被小红救走。
可惜它来晚了一步。
小红早已捧起小燕子，并小心翼翼地把它放进了燕子窝中。小花猫见此情景，只好了心，夹着尾巴灰溜溜地逃走了。
小燕子一家见小燕子得救了，都十分欣慰，它们给小燕子喂了点食后，一块儿在小红的头顶上盘旋，仿佛在说：谢谢你！谢谢你！
小红向它们招招手，心里十分高兴，她想：虽然被小花猫抓破了手，但是我“猫口救燕”，保护了益鸟，一点不后悔。

屋檐下有个燕巢，三只刚出壳的小燕子，长着嫩黄的小嘴，拍打着翅膀，“唧唧”地叫着，焦急地等着燕子妈妈来喂食。
小英走出门来，她穿着红色外套，蓝色裙子，头上梳着羊角小辫，还扎了鹅黄色的蝴蝶结。她看着这一派春光明媚的景色，深深地吸了一口气，心里有种说不出的喜欢。
小英转头看着燕巢，心中升起一种盼望，盼望小燕子快快长大，省得燕子妈妈整天忙忙碌碌的。突然，意想不到的事情发生了，小燕子在巢里互相推挤着，有一只小燕子竟然滚了出来，只见它徒劳地扇动着翅膀，但毕竟羽翼未丰，重重地摔在地上。
小英一下傻眼了，看着小燕子颤动着翅膀，眼睛微闭，肚子一起一伏，发出微弱的叫声。“喵呜”，不知从哪里蹿出一只大花猫来，只见它双眼瞪得圆圆的，前腿趴在地上，后腿蹬直，弓起后背，尾巴快活地摇来摇去，一副立刻要向小燕子发起攻击的样子。这下可把小英急坏了，她的心都提到嗓子眼上了，说时迟，这时快，小英急中生智，随手从墙边拿起一根小棒，朝着大花猫冲去，一边挥舞着小棒，一边大喊：“滚开，不许伤害小燕子！”大花猫愣了一下，一扭头逃跑了。
小英长长地吁了一口气，用手轻轻捧起小燕子，拂去它身上的泥土，又从家里搬出梯子，将小燕子小心翼翼地放回了燕巢中。燕子妈妈回来了，不停地在小英头上飞旋，不住地叫着：“唧——唧——”，好像在说：“谢谢你啊！谢谢你！”
小英看着幸福的燕子一家，开心地笑了。
