i am afraid that you will think me unpardonably negligent in not having answered your letter dated 7, december sooner, but when i have told you the reason, i trust you will be convinced that the neglect was excusable. when your letter arrived, i was just in hong kong. as my family could not forward it to me during my absence, it has been, therefore, lying on my desk until the moment when i took it up. now the first thing i have to hasten to do is to write to you these few lines to express my deep regret.
i enjoyed many pleasant sights during my trip. i shall be pleased to give you an account to of them when i see you next.

I am terrible sorry for not having attended your class on time. Because I had got a headache for several days and it is my first time to live in Chongqing and I can not suit for the weather here quickly.
To be honestly, I like learning English very well and I have made my mind to learn it well both on spoken English and on written English. I think you will be my best teacher to help me improving my English Level. So I apologize again for my not attend your class. I will make my great effort on English in the future and will not make you disappointment next time!

在我的脑海中，有一件事让我终生难忘。
记得，那是在念一年级下册的时候。那天蒋老师要求同学们把数学书上的作业做好，把书交上去她好检查。
过了一天，数学书发了下来。大家都有书，而我却没有。由于胆子小的原因，我没有问蒋老师。
在家里做作业时，妈妈问起这件事，我只好如实地回答。妈妈说;“你姐姐有一次和你情况一模一样，结果书在另外一个同学那儿。”
第二天，我早早地来到学校，我把我姐姐丢书的事给蒋老师说了一遍，蒋老师说：“如果同学们没有的话，你就要给所有的同学道歉。”
同学们把书都放在课桌上，我挨个的检查，结果一无所获。
我拖着沉重的步伐站上讲台，向同学们深深的鞠了一躬，说了一声：“对不起，是我的错。”说完这句话时，我心里别提有多难受了。我的眼泪忍不住快要掉了下来，可我暗暗对自己：“要忍住，要忍住，不要不像一个男子汉。”我快步地下了讲台，回到自己座位上时，眼泪终于忍不住地掉了下来。明明不是自己的错，老师还要我向同学们道歉，我心里委屈极了。
又过了几天，一个同学发现另外一个同学的书上写着我的名字，就向蒋老师说了。那天，我轻快地上了办公室，心情好极了。而那位同学正在受老师的批评。我拿到书时，蒋老师要求那位同学向我道歉，当那位同学说到：“对不起，是我拿了你的书。”我激动地掉下来眼泪，当时那种复杂的心情，简直无法用语言形容。我拿着失而复得的书，高兴地回到了教室。

我经历过很多事，有喜怒哀乐的，有酸甜苦辣的，但令我最难忘的一件事是――刘老师向我们道歉。我还记得，1月14日早上第一节课，同学们在为准备期末考试忙得不可开交，刘老师走了进来，顿时班上鸦雀无声，刘老师对大家鞠了个躬，说：“我要向大家道歉。”刘老师道歉?搞不懂!我傻呆呆地望着刘老师，全班同学也都愣了。
“我看了李嘉同学的作文，她很希望朋友生气时别用‘神经病’、‘傻瓜’、‘笨蛋’等不良词语，而我想起之前因为时间紧，所以刘老师急，会不经意地批评同学们，请大家原谅。我保证以后尽可能不用这些语言。”刘老师说。
一时间班上响起了热烈的掌声，持续了很久很久……此时我想：老师的话不是最有威信的吗?我转念又想：每个人都不是十全十美的，敢于诚认自己错误的老师没有多少，但刘老师就是一个，我真为您骄傲――刘老师!

Dear Frank:
I am terribly sorry to tell you that I have lost the valuable book you were so kind to lend me last week. I read it everyday and intended to finish it next month. Last night when I came to my room, it was nowhere to be found. I will try to recover it as soon as possible. If I fail to find it, I will get a new book for you.
But I am afraid it can never take the place of the old one. Old books are like old friends. Once lost, they can never be replaced. They are connected with cherished associations which the new ones can never have. And for this irrecoverable loss, I am to blame. I was so careless with my things. This is a warning to me to be more careful in the future.
