在叶霜打算给肖关鹏机会重建信任的时候，却得到了一个意外的消息，简怀孕了，是肖关鹏的孩子。更要命的是简由于身体原因不能打掉这个孩子，否则会有生命危险，知道这个消息的肖关鹏陷入了深深的痛苦和自责中，一方面他不能舍弃自己深爱的妻女，另一方面他又不能不对简负责任，而善良的叶霜在经过苦苦挣扎后，决定成全简和肖，自己退出这场斗争。在这个关键时刻，一直深爱着简的大伟，终于说服了简，简同意跟大伟结婚了。这个好消息让那对泪眼朦胧的夫妻看到了希望，重新露出了笑容。
可幸福总是短暂的，简在蜜月旅行的时候遇到了车祸，大伟去世了，而简又瞎了双眼，这让责任感强烈的肖关鹏很自责，他想尽办法来照顾简，以弥补一些愧疚，看到老公如此辛苦和痛苦，善良的叶霜决定和老公一起承担一切，所以把无人照顾和无家可归的简接回自己的家中来照料，夫妻俩悉心照料着简，可简却喜欢上了这种依赖，她觉得命中注定自己是要和肖在一起的，所以在眼睛复明后依然不肯告诉大家真相，在被发现后竟然说要和叶霜公开竞争，一定要和肖关鹏在一起，肖关鹏对她所有的照顾只是因为她是个需要人照顾的病人，而且他觉得和自己曾犯过的错误有着密不可分的关系，所以他一直在努力的弥补着简，可简却把这一切看成是爱，她觉得肖是爱自己的，所以要不惜一切手段得到他。
此时简有些疯狂，她到处睹截肖关鹏，表达自己的爱意，不顾及任何人的感受，无论是单位还是肖的家中，这让肖关鹏也有些怕这个疯狂的女人了，他听从家人的安排，带着妻子和女儿住到了别处，但这个举动让简更加疯狂了，她来到肖女儿的学校，带走了肖的女儿，以此来威胁肖关鹏来见自己，后来又改主意让肖和妻子离婚，然后和自己结婚才肯放过这个小女孩，万般无奈的肖报了警，可善良的叶霜不愿意让简从此毁掉，她选择了答应简的要求，因为她知道简不能再受刺激，因为她的眼睛可能会因此再度失明，而且永远可能不会再好了。肖关鹏不能接受妻子的这个决定，他是那么的爱自己的妻子和女儿，但同是他又无可奈何，他喝得酩酊大醉，对着前来接自己的简说出了心里的话，他大骂了简，跟简说她根本无法和叶霜相比，因为简心里只有自己，是个自私的人，而叶霜任何时候都会先考虑别人，这是她们最大的不同，她之所以同意离婚不是
因为别的，只是不愿意让简受到刺激导致再度失明。这番话终于说疯狂的简有些醒悟，她终于明白为什么肖关鹏会选择和叶霜在一起，而不是自己的原因了。所以她留下一封信后彻底地离开了这个城市。这场噩梦终于结束了，肖一家人再度开始了幸福的生活。
看完这部电视剧，我感慨万分，肖关鹏是一个有责任感的男人，他会为自己所犯的错误承担责任，我最喜欢他说的那段话：“我贪恋一时的享受，犯下了荒唐的错误，虽然只有一次，但性质是一样的。我一时的荒唐毁掉了我们需要用一生来建设和维护的幸福，我愿意承担一切后果和责任。我就是一个被裁判罚下场的人，我有什么资格来评论你的对错。我只是想请求你，给我们一次重建信任的机会。”人都是会犯错误的，因为人是感性的，但能够勇敢面对错误和承担责任的人却不是很多，人常说的浪子回头金不换指的就是这种人吧。而叶霜在我的眼里她是一个善良的女人，她也会嫉妒和发飙，但她的善良总是指引着她做出一些超人的举动，而这些举动中透露出来的却是宽容和大度，这样的宽容让犯错者羞愧，也让旁观者感动，也最终为自己带来了家庭的完整和幸福。而简是一个新时代的女性，她敢爱敢恨，不为伦理道德所拘束，却差点把自己送上不归路，毕竟我们生活在一个讲究道德和伦理规范的社会中，只有遵循这些规则的人，才最终能够获得别人的尊重和幸福。
追求真爱固然重要，但需要考虑的是：不要把自己的幸福建立在别人的痛苦之上，因为这不是真的幸福真的爱
