第二天，世界末日果然发生了，它毁掉了小依家的山洞，迫使他们离开原来的家去了一个新的地方。在这里他们和盖一起去寻找可能居住的地方。在他们共同生活中，他们学会了穿鞋、穿衣、吃熟食。大家越来越聪明，而且也越来越依赖盖，更愿意听他的，这让小依的父亲很不开心。在一次谈话中，父亲发现自己错了，于是大家慢慢地开始“现代人”的生活。
可是世界末日的危险正在蔓延。一天，陆地裂开一道大缝，为了让大家安全，强壮的父亲将他们一个个扔出了危险的陆地，到了安全的岛上，可自己却落入了危险之中。最后他也学习了盖的那种创新精神，想出了利用一群食人鸟将他和许多落难的动物带上了小岛，使他们一家人团聚，在岛上快乐的生活。这是再没有规定、没有山洞、没有那些陈旧错误的道理。
看了这部电影，我明白了：我们一定要勇于探索，不可以把自己定格于一种环境中；要去接受新鲜的事物。而且在改变自己时，要听众别人的意见。在这部影片中，我们更能看出父亲对家人会出的伟大父爱。
