首先，必须清醒地明白，水质的好坏，会直接影响到金鱼的生长、发育与繁殖。所以，作为养鱼人，必须高度关注养金鱼用水的选择与处理。
养金鱼千万不要用雨水和蒸馏水，因为雨水中含有细菌与寄生虫，蒸馏水中缺乏浮游生物且溶氧量不足。
