忽然教堂的钟敲了十二下。祈祷的钟声也响了。窗外又传来普鲁士士兵的号声。他们已经收操了。韩麦尔先生站起来，脸色惨白，我觉得他从来没有这么高大。
我的朋友们啊，他说，我我
但是他哽住了，他说不下去了。
他转身朝着黑板，拿起一支粉笔，使出全身的力量，写了几个大字：
法兰西万岁!
然后他呆在那儿,头靠着墙壁,话也不说,只向我们做了一个手势:放学了，你们走吧。
我静静的看着他。后排座位上的郝叟老头儿慢慢地摘下眼睛，叹了一口气。孩子们依依不舍地看着韩麦尔先生的背影，一点一点地挪动着脚步向门外走去。要在平时，大家早已跳着叫着跑远了，留下韩麦尔先生一个人站在屋子内看着他们离去的背影。
镇上的人们都默默的望着韩麦尔先生的背影，没有说话，只是上前拍拍他的肩膀示意一下，表示安慰。
许久，韩麦尔先生的妹妹提着沉重的行李慢慢地走下楼梯。屋子里，只剩下我和郝叟老头儿，还有韩麦尔先生。
这时，沉默已久的韩麦尔先生缓缓地转过身来，意味深长地看着我们。我看着他的眼睛，愧疚的说：对不起，韩麦尔先生。是我们!是我们!我的眼泪控制不住，夺眶而出。韩麦尔先生温和的抚摸着我的头，说：小弗郎士，这不关你的事。你知道吗?在我的心里，法语就像一条清澈的泉水，浇灌我的心灵，这条泉水的源头，需要我们去探索。其实，法语就像一个个小精灵，只要切切实实这喜爱他们，才会感受到乐趣，你知道吗?
嗯!我停止了哭泣，我一定会自己好好学法语的。
在后来的十年里，我都很刻苦的学习法语，法国阿尔萨斯收复了自己祖国的国土。镇上的人又开始学习祖国的语言。
我来到韩麦尔先生以前的屋子，遇见我的老师：韩麦尔先生。他对我做了一个胜利的手势：我们赢了!
