Founder of Labor Day
More than 100 years after the first Labor Day observance， there is still some doubt as to who first proposed the holiday for workers.
Some records show that Peter J. McGuire， general secretary of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and a cofounder of the American Federation of Labor， was first in suggesting a day to honor those "who from rude nature have delved and carved all the grandeur we behold."
But Peter McGuire"s place in Labor Day history has not gone unchallenged. Many believe that Matthew Maguire， a machinist， not Peter McGuire， founded the holiday. Recent research seems to support the contention that Matthew Maguire， later the secretary of Local 344 of the International Association of Machinists in Paterson， N.J， proposed the holiday in 1882 while serving as secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York. What is clear is that the Central Labor Union adopted a Labor Day proposal and appointed a committee to plan a demonstration and picnic.

My mother said to me:"Open your eyes!And look out of the window. What a fine day! Let's go to park,"So my mother, my classmate and I went to the park.
We took some foods in my schoolbag.
On the way to the park. I saw the blue sky with snow-white clouds. I saw pear trees and some apple trees and so on. Below the trees, there are several kinds of flowers.
It's colorful, blue, red, yellow, pink, purple, orange and white. I saw some balloons and butterflies in the sky. I ate popcorn, cornflakes, banana and lollipop. They were wonderful.
In the afternoon, we went to the zoo. I visited the birds, mice, cats, dogs, budgies, hamsters, rabbits and so on.
May Day is my favorite day.

今天是五一劳动节，爸爸和妈妈带我去了人民公园。一到那里我看到了那么多的游乐项目，简直高兴极了。
我们首先来到旋转摇头边，看着上边的哥哥姐姐们一幅悠闲自得的样子，嘴里还哼着歌呢！我有点迫不及待了，妈妈问我害怕不害怕，我摇了摇头说：“这有什么好怕的，不就来回的摇吗。”于是，妈妈便给我买了票。我刚坐上去感觉良好，可是到了高空我的两腿就开始发软了，心率也加速了，也开始头晕眼眩了，真有点招架不住了。我哭了起来，爸爸妈妈在下边一直为我鼓掌，好不容易停止了转动，我可下来了，脸色都蜡黄了。
稍微休息了片刻，我感觉好多了，我们又去喂鸽子，我刚开始非常害怕鸽子，都把鸽食扔的很远。可后来，我看见妈妈把鸽食放在手上给鸽子吃，于是，我也壮起胆子，把鸽食放在手上，但是鸽子刚要啄我手上的鸽食，我的手就一下子缩了回去。妈妈说：“不要害怕，它不会伤你的手的。”我又壮着胆子把我的手放在鸽子的面前，这一次非常成功，鸽子一啄我的手，我就觉得很痒痒，但我强忍着，不赶走鸽子，直到鸽子把我手上的食物啄完后，我才敢动一下身子。后来，我的胆子越来越到了，真是舍不得离开它们。
这一天，我们玩的真是太开心了。

“五一”劳动节的前一天放学时，我约了蔡国尔、吕志豪和陆天衡一起去桐乡植物园玩。
“五一”节早上，我很早就起床了，很快我就穿好了衣服，一边听英语一边等同学来，第一个到的是陆天衡，他还带了很多吃的东西，接着吕志豪和蔡国尔也到了，我们坐着爸爸的车来到了植物园。
我们一到植物园首先看到的是：植物园中央有一个非常大的人工湖泊，湖泊四周有很多有趣的游戏项目，但我们选择了自助钓鱼（不用花钱，我们自带了渔具和鱼饵），那里的鱼很多，只要把鱼钩放在水面上，鱼就会跃出水面咬鱼钩上的鱼饵，不一会儿我们就钓到了很多活蹦乱跳的鱼，我们还尽情地、疯狂地玩水，玩得全身衣服都湿透了。爸爸妈妈不但没责怪我们反而说：“玩的时候就要尽情的玩！学习的时候就要用心的学习！”
吃好午饭，我们又一起到老公公家采蚕豆，妈妈说：今天是劳动节我们也要参加“劳动”。采完了蚕豆我们还用古老的方法搭了一个土灶煮盐水蚕豆吃呢！
今年的“五一”节我们虽然玩得非常累，但我们度过了一个非常快乐的“五一”节。
