i am afraid that you will think me unpardonably negligent in not having answered your letter dated 7, december sooner, but when i have told you the reason, i trust you will be convinced that the neglect was excusable. when your letter arrived, i was just in hong kong. as my family could not forward it to me during my absence, it has been, therefore, lying on my desk until the moment when i took it up. now the first thing i have to hasten to do is to write to you these few lines to express my deep regret.

春天到了，万物复苏，鸟语花香。春风吹绿了小草，吹青了柳树。小燕子从南方赶来，为春天增加了一道风景线。
星期六下午，小华刚写完作业，就跑出去玩，刚走到家门口，就听到屋檐上“叽叽”的叫声。小华抬头一瞧，啊！原来燕妈妈孵出了四只小燕子，这四个小脑袋凑在一起在窃窃私语。突然，其中一只小燕子笑得得意忘形，不小心从窝里掉了下来，小华的心揪紧了。
这时，小华的大花猫也来了，它非常饿，一看到小燕子，馋的直流口水，扑向小燕子。小燕子被除数眼前的事物吓矇，它左躲右闪，可哪里是大花猫的对手，就在这千钧一发的时刻，燕妈妈回来了，它看到自己的孩子快落入猫口，二话不说，丢下自己辛辛苦苦抓的小虫子，像疾风似的冲向大花猫。大花猫转身一看，燕妈妈正冲向自己。心想“不自量力的家伙，不怕，就来吧！”把嘴巴朝向燕妈妈，想让它自己冲向嘴巴。可燕妈妈没这么笨，它调整方向一冲，不偏不倚戳到大花猫的眼睛，“啊！”大花猫凄惨地叫了一声。还没等大花猫缓过神来，小华怒气冲冲地拿起柳枝条对准大花猫狂抽起来，大花猫吓的魂飞魄散，落荒而逃。
这时，燕妈妈背起小燕子，吃力地飞回鸟窝，并对小华拍拍翅膀，表示感谢，小华欢快地笑了。

春天来了，桃红柳绿，鸟语花香，河面上的冰融化了，呆在南方过冬的小燕子也飞回来了。
一天下午，小红正从学校回家，就在这时，她发现她们家屋檐下有一个燕子窝，原来是小燕子在小红家屋檐下筑巢了。突然，一只小燕子由于不小心，从窝里摔了下来，撞上了墙，重重的摔到了地上。小红看了，惊呆了，张大了嘴巴不知道如何是好。掉在地上的小燕子痛苦地呻吟着，窝里的另外三只小燕子探出了小脑袋，伤心地望着这只小燕子，这场面让小红心痛不已，她连忙跑向受伤的小燕子，想去救它。
谁知在这时候，小红家的大花猫皮皮窜了出来，它像饿虎一样，双眼发光，正虎视眈眈地盯着这只小燕子，它想：“哈哈，我的肚子正饿的咕咕叫，这只小燕子正好当我的美餐了。”小燕子喳喳地叫着，像在哀求道：“求求你，放了我吧！”在窝里的小燕子也想来救它，但也无能为力。小红见此情景再也忍不住了，一个箭步冲到了大花猫面前，大声喊道：“皮皮，这么可爱无辜的生命你也要伤害啊！还不赶快回家里去。”小红边喊边拿着树枝赶皮皮。“喵”皮皮怨恨地叫了一声，就灰溜溜地跑开了。
小红小心翼翼地将受伤的小燕子捧回了家，并帮它养伤，细心地照料它。转眼几个星期过去了，小燕子的伤口也痊愈了，还学会了怎样飞行，小红打算把小燕子送回家。
这一天，空气清新，万里无云，小红捧着小燕子来到院子里，小燕子张开翅膀，向天空中飞去。

“爸爸，妈妈，你们在哪儿啊！”为了让这悲剧不再重演，让我们一起呼吁和平，制止战争！我相信，在未来的明天，伴随着一只只洁白的鸽子在空中盘旋着，一朵粉嫩的和平之花在每个人的心中绽放！
