一个星期天，我写完了老师布置的作业，闲着没事，就在家里拿起一本书看。突然，我看见壶的盖子不停地跳动，我把水倒进暖瓶里，脑子里突然有种想法在闪动，如果水开了看不见，水壶不就烧化了吗？我们家就曾烧化了一个水壶，因为当时全家人都不在家。我得想个办法，防止把水壶烧化，我灵机一动，如果把一个铃铛系在壶盖上，再把一根小绳系在一个钉子上，然后，把钉子钉在墙上，水一开，铃铛不就响起来了吗？
我先做做看看能不能成功，说做就做，我把我想的按照顺序做起来，先把铃铛系在壶盖上，再把钉子钉在墙上，然后把一根有细又长的小绳子挂在上面，我把水装进壶里，过了几分钟，铃铛果然响起来了，而且铁丝也没有断，我高兴地又蹦又跳，并把我的小发明告诉了爸爸，爸爸笑眯眯的说：“不错，不错，真是个心灵手巧的好孩子。”听到了爸爸的夸奖，我心里像喝了蜜一样甜。从此，我家的水壶再也没被烧化过。
从这件事中，我明白了一个道理：取得优异的成绩是不容易的，要付出艰辛的.劳动。无论做什么事，都不能半途而废，只要有耐心，就一定会把事情做成功。
