在阳光明媚的夏日之中，我兴致勃勃地来到令人神往的开平碉楼游览。碉楼的设计非常独特，是中西合壁，碉楼的地方非常广阔，每一层楼都有厨房，每一座碉楼从不低于两层，每扇门的设计非常精美，是铁门，每扇门都有几十口凸出来的点，从这一点，就可以体现出碉楼的美丽和贵气。每一座碉楼最高为六楼，七楼就是天台，天台大多数是六角形和四角形，天台上面有大小不相同的石头，是用来向敌人投和攻击的。这边有凸出的防卫建筑件被称作“燕子窝”燕子窝的造型化多样，在那一个时代，不单是开平，还有加拿大村、赤坎古填、自力村利迎龙楼，都是碉楼聚集的地方，碉楼遍布全国，自然就形成了一句话，叫“无碉楼不成村”的一名话，碉楼内状装修是非常精美。

如今我最深刻的楼就是方氏灯楼，方氏灯楼在开平市的塘口镇塘口此北面的山坡上，原名叫“古溪楼”后人改为方氏灯楼，这座楼高5层，钢筋混凝土结构，第3层以下灯之处，第4层为桃台敞廊，第5层楼是由西洋式穹窿顶的亭阔，楼内面配有值班预警的西方早照灯，枪械房是典型的碉楼，楼里有10多名消防队员长期在守碉楼，他们配有当时先进的枪械，有七光枪，还有两支从美国购进的马枪。后来不在第一层楼设置了发电机，楼顶设有盏探照灯。如果有土匪来打劫，守卫人就开着探照灯照射土匪，然后通知村民，采取反击行动。以后土匪再也不敢来这里轻举妄动了。
