在以前我一直认为“女人是水做的”这句话很对，很有道理，因为以前的我就想是这句话所说的那样。以前的我是一个脆弱的人，遇到小小的挫折只会哭。哭，似乎已成了我的专长，甚至每个星期都要哭几次。但自从那件事后，我变得坚强多了，不再一遇到问题只会哭。
记得那是一年的秋季，当时我失去了一个最好的朋友，因为一件事情相互不能理解，而闹矛盾了。我的心情十分悲伤，以至于三、四个星期都无精打采。每次，静静地想起她时，总会暗暗地流泪。妈妈似乎察觉到了什么，于是就给我讲了关于外祖母的事情。外祖父在妈妈十岁的时候因车祸而离开了人世，家中的外祖母知道后，因伤心过度而昏了过去。但苏醒后的外祖母却背着丧夫之痛坚强地支撑着家，把五个孩子抚养成人，还让他们都上了大学。“什么痛苦比得上失去亲人的痛苦？”妈妈说道，
“一个人无论面对什么困难都应当坚强，世上没有过不去的坎。一个坚强的人才算是一个成功的人。”听了妈妈的话以后，我变得更加坚强了，不再一味地哭泣。

人，首先应该具有什么品质呢？我认为，就是要孝顺。古语有云：百以孝为先。古人说得，太对了！
你看看如今的社会，一个优秀的'人不只是学历高，有文化，更重要的是品德高尚，孝敬父母。我曾听得父亲说：“北大以后招生啊，一定要是孝顺的人。凡是不孝顺的人，成绩怎么好也不能去读。”
我村子里，有一个比我大2年的哥哥，是班上的班长。他在我村里家喻户晓。为什么呢？他，成绩在班上名列前茅，回家家务几乎全包，从不顶撞父母。你说，这容易吗？其实他父母只不过是开店铺而已，也不是没时间照顾他。换作你，你会主动做家务么？我曾有一次到同学家做作业，路过了他家所在的巷口了，见到一群人围着他家，我走到前去好奇。只见他正在家门口哭着，地上十分凌乱，有一滩水，也有几块萝卜。
他母亲正狠狠地指着自己的孩子骂：“你这败家子，生你有什么用，做点事都不行”口水飞溅，指手划脚。他只是低着头，默默地哭泣。街坊邻里都出来劝说他母亲。硝烟的味道渐渐淡了，人群都散了，他也拭干了眼泪。
我连忙走上去问：“哥哥，到底怎么了？”
他看见是我，就说：“我妈正在门口与人聊天，我把汤捧出来给我妈喝。不小心摔了一跤，汤倒了”
我旁边一个孩子说：“你妈怎么那么不好？和她斗骂咯！”
他摇了摇，说：“她是我母亲！”
一阵声音突然响起，“和谁说话啊？快进来，看我把你打！”
他眼红了，但也进屋了。我没敢进去，但我听到的是鸡毛掸子滑破空气的一道道刺耳的声音。
“她是我母亲！”这句话一直在我脑海中显现。过后，街坊们都说，如果我有这般儿子就好了。
孝，真的如此重要吗？可是，我们自己是由妈妈肚子里出来的！

If an entrance fee must be paid by the visitors for a park, it will be necessary to build a gate and surrounding walls. In the end a city will take on a bad look. 40% of us schoolmates think that an entrance fee can be accepted, but it must not be too expensive. The money from ticket selling can be used for paying the gardeners in the park and buying some other kinds of flowers and trees.
With regard to myself, I think an entrance fee is useful, for it can be used to protect a park. Do we share the same opinion, dear editor?

If I were a boy again, I would school myself into a habit of attention; I would let nothing come between me and the subject in hand. I would remember that a good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once.
The habit of attention becomes part of our life, if we begin early enough. I often hear grown up people say, I could not fix my attention on the sermon or book, although I wished to do so, and the reason is, the habit was not formed in youth.
If I were to live my life over again, I would pay more attention to the cultivation of the memory. I would strengthen that faculty by every possible means, and on every possible occasion. It takes a little hard work at first to remember things accurately; but memory soon helps itself, and gives very little trouble. It only needs early cultivation to become a power.
If I were a boy again, I would cultivate courage. Nothing is so mild and gentle as courage, nothing so cruel and pitiless as cowardice, says a wise author.
We too often borrow trouble, and anticipate that may never appear. The fear of ill exceeds the ill we fear. Dangers will arise in any career, but presence of mind will often conquer the worst of them. Be prepared for any fate, and there is no harm to be feared.
