我认识老卫快十年了，那时候全国收藏连环画的人不多，能说会写的人更少，为了共同的爱好，我们一起为屈指可数的几张连藏小报写稿，虽未见面，但相互都有书信交流，彼此之间把对方当作真心朋友。1999年冬，在上海鲁迅公园举行了一次连环画展览上，我见到了北京的王家龙、崔吉鸿，上海的张奇明、李明海、汪洋，郑州的强者，重庆的李明，福州的池晨光，还有武汉的老卫。前年，在东北一份连藏民刊上，看到我有幸和他们一起，被列入了对连环画收藏有贡献的一百人。
我的连环画收藏在2001年以后就基本停顿了，那时，新版书中有名的套书我都已收全，其他原因就是收藏兴趣发生转移、连藏进展不易。常熟的旧连环画资源有限，特别是老版书更稀少，要收藏的话只有和外地交流，但经过几年的宣传，连环画收藏已被很多人认可，小人书的价格也一路攀升。连环画是因为怀旧情节成为收藏品的，但不管怎么说都是印刷品，超高价格的小人书已经失去了收藏的意义。进入新世纪后，各地连友都忙于成立连藏协会，创办连藏民刊，组织连环画交流会，这是个人连环画收藏的升级版。但是，这些活动都不适合常熟、不适合我，于是，我选择了停顿，收藏的连环画被束之高阁，除了订阅几份连藏小报，了解一些连藏动态。
最近几年，全国各地的连环画收藏形势发生了本质的变化，尤其是在大批邮商参与之后，纯粹的收藏活动变成了恶意炒作。各地连环画交流会越办越频繁，甚至出现了撞车现象，拍卖会上自拉自唱，天价奇观层出不穷。很多邮商在上世纪末炒作邮币卡的过程中吃了大亏，因此想在被宣传为十大收藏品之列的连环画上翻身，正是他们，吓走了很多忠实的`连环画收藏爱好者。
真正的痴迷者还在坚持，比如老卫，以个人之力难以把武汉收藏家联谊会连环画专业委员会运转起来，还要办一份小报宣传连环画收藏，几年前叫《连艺收藏》，后改名《江城连讯》。于是老卫也开始下海了，主营是老本行连环画，兼营邮票等纸质收藏品。这点从他寄小报来的信封上就能看出来，有时是首日封，有时是信封加邮票，反正都是选打折的，怎么省钱怎么寄。
这次，他用的是贺卡封和十张八分邮票。经历过八十年代的人都见过这种北京民居图案的普通邮票，当时国内平信的起步邮资是八分。这套民居图普票共16枚，面值从1分到160分，常用的还有4分票面是江苏民居，寄市内平信；20分的票面是上海民居，寄挂号信。记得九七前后狂炒邮币卡那几年，因为股市低迷，各路枪手就把写股评的笔法来写邮币卡评论，我看见过几篇，把这套民居普票也当做潜力品种大力吹捧。后来呢？是泡沫都会破灭，当邮资涨到八角时，这些沉淀在炒家手里的普通邮票又回归到了它的邮寄功能，不同的是，以前一封信只要贴一张，现在一封信要贴十张。
