虽说电视、杂志、报纸、广播的深度报道都是在突出讲故事，都强调怎样把新闻做真，但是谈到具体的时候还是有差别。电视的深度要来自视听兼备的传播特性，比如在调查事实的.时候，可能报纸只能把回答写出来，而电视却能够展示记者质问时的表情，当事人眼睛乱转，欲盖弥彰的表情。但文字造就的深刻，可以跟大脑媲美，而电视则不具备这种深刻，你必须把话说通俗，而不能太抽象。而杂志的报道更强调事实和问题之间的逻辑关系，要求记者提高采访质量，通过采访将充分的事实和严密的逻辑关系结合好，最完美就是将讲故事和讲道理同时完成。广播是这几类里最不容易让听众集中注意力的，它更必须把抽象问题形象化，只有特别形象、生动，听众才能接受，并需要注意节目结构的松紧，不能严谨过头，应该从听众习惯角度来做到舒缓有度。
现象的东西可以穷尽，预设性的主题可以穷尽，但新闻事件不会穷尽。新闻故事是什么样的，决定悬念有多大，观众有多关注一则精彩的故事不是取胜在其接连不断细节，如果陷入琐碎的细节，不能够判断叙述的事实所要反映的问题之间有什么本质的联系。事实和问题之间必须有逻辑关系，读者看完事实报道后应该也就知道了发生这些事实的原因以及蕴含在其中的媒体的价值观念。

这本书中所有受采访的编辑和记者都强调一个记者业务素质培养的重要性。新闻专业的只是是最基本的，但更重要的是要有质疑的精神、平衡的意识和平等的视角。很多人说，做记者是天生的，他有自己独特的思维方式，他能抓住平凡生活当中的新闻点。确实如此，我现在的视角很薄弱，既然先天不足，那就只有后天努力了。不只是专业知识，要广泛涉猎，把每次采访都当成学习机会，不仅是完成一篇报道，更是了解这个领域内、社会现象，接触和认识其中的人，逐渐形成自己的新闻理念。
