夏天到了，天气越来越热。二胖央求说：“妈妈，这么热的天，买个西瓜吃，那该多美呀。”大胖也帮腔说：“对!西瓜又甜又解渴，好妈妈，去给我们买一个吧。”熊妈妈说：“妈妈有事，要吃你们自己去买。”二胖既想吃又不想去买，忙说：“哥哥比我大，应该他去!”大胖说：“你比我跑得快，应该你去!”熊妈妈有点生气了：“别吵啦!你俩一起去买，谁偷懒，不许吃!”大胖、二胖只好拿上钱，一起买西瓜去了。
他俩走过森林，走过草地，走过小桥，来到了河滩边鹿阿姨的瓜园。大胖说：“鹿阿姨，给我们挑个最甜的!”二胖说：“鹿阿姨，给我们挑个最大的!”鹿阿姨用蹄子轻轻踢踢这个，嫌没熟;看看那个，嫌太小。最后说：“这个正好，准是个顶甜顶甜的大西瓜!”
大胖、二胖付了钱，大胖抱起西瓜往家走。没走几步，就把大西瓜往地上一放，说：“这西瓜太沉了，我抱累了。弟弟该你抱一会儿啦!”二胖不好意思不抱，皱着眉头，抱起西瓜往前走了几步，也把西瓜往地上一放，喘着粗气说：“这瓜这么重，我这么小，能抱几步?哥哥，还是你抱吧!”
两只小懒熊，你推我，我推你，谁也不愿抱。正在推托之间，大胖不小心碰了西瓜一下，西瓜咕噜噜滚了几圈。二胖猛拍脑袋说：“嘿，有了!西瓜会滚，咱们让它自个跑回家吧!”大胖一听，也高兴了，兄弟倆也不再吵了，争着滚大西瓜。二胖用力一推，大西瓜滚两滚;大胖踢一脚，大西瓜滚三滚。滚过河滩，滚过小桥，滚过草地，滚过森林，直滚到两只小懒熊的家门口。
熊妈妈看见了，抱起大西瓜，用水洗干净放到桌子上。两只小懒熊早就坐好，搓着两手，眼睛瞪得溜溜圆，心里想着大西瓜的味道，不觉流出了口水。妈妈伸手拍了拍，轻轻晃了晃头，一刀切下去，红红的瓜瓤全都变成了水，哗啦啦流了满桌子。
大胖、二胖你看我，我看你，皱起了眉头。
这么好的大西瓜没吃上，你说这事该怪谁呢?
看着又大又甜的西瓜变成了水，两只小懒熊一定后悔极了!这就是偷懒的结果!小朋友们记住这个西瓜变水的故事吧!
