Second, I was attracted by his lively wit. I remember that we students always anticipated his class with great eagerness because his lecture were humorously delivered, never failing to provoke chuckles or loud laughs.

这篇文章主要写了美国前任副总统家里的一件小事：在他的孩子还小的时候，准备养一只小狗，他请一个朋友帮忙驯狗，而那个朋友却问他小狗的目标是什么？后来他问驯狗师为什么要给狗确立目标，那个驯狗师说：“每只小狗都有一个目标。”这句话虽普通，但却说明了一个道理：“连狗都有目标，做人不是更要有目标吗？”
是啊！一个人必须要有一个目标。目标，能让人在前进中具有无穷的动力；目标，能让一个人变得不怕艰难无所畏惧，成为一个坚强的人；目标，能让一个人在达成后变得乐观向上，充满斗志；目标，还能让一个人达到成功的顶峰。
目标是要切合实际的`。记得一个马拉松冠军曾这样对他的成功做出总结。他在练习马拉松时，先在一棵大树上面做记号，再在相隔不远的地方再设一个记号做目标，这样，他每一个目标都努力地去完成，直到跑完最后一个目标。但是，我们不能把目标订得太低，有时候也要制订一个更高的目标来不断激励自己。做同样的事，可能目标不同。书上曾有一个小故事：三个泥瓦匠砌墙，第一个人的目标是砌好自己的墙，第二个人的目标是建一座大厦，第三个人的目标是要为祖国做出贡献。于是三年以后，第一个还在砌墙，第二个成了工程师，第三个人则是前两个人的老板。由此看来，不同的人，为自己选不同的目标是极为重要的。
可在当今社会中，有些人却没有自己的目标，成天昏昏沉沉，花天酒地，好象生命失去了意义。从而为了寻求刺激，走上了不可挽回的犯罪之路。而那些有目标的人，则会为了自己的目标努力拼搏，不断奋进，终于实现了自己的目标，然后再制订下一个目标，再接再厉，这样的日子虽累却很充实，由此可见，一个恰倒好处的目标是人类精神的营养品。
看来，一个人是否成功的关键主要是这个人是否树立了一个目标和是否努力地去工作来好好实现这个目标。“每只小狗都有一个目标”这句话我将永远铭记在我的心中，不断激励我去认真地制订并不折不扣地完成每一个目标。
