俗话说得好，“民，以食为天”。食，大若天地。我们生存的基本要素就是从食物中获取的，大地万物的生灵全部都要靠食物来补充能量，获取营养，维持生命。再看这部《闲话中国人》，开头第一炮便是在大谈“饮食”。中国的饮食文化早有上千年的历史，可算得上是传统文化了。由此可看出，饮食文化在中国文化中所占地位之重。
外国人重于情趣，中国人则重于饮食。中国人既然能以食为天，则“悠悠万事，唯此为大”，世界上还有比天大的吗?答案是肯定的。所以，中国人甚至认为“普天之下，莫非一吃”，认为不管任何事都能用“吃”来解决。这就是现代中国人对千百万年前的老祖宗流传下来的饮食文化的认识，这也是书中所说的“泛食主义”。
说到这“泛食主义”，它也包含在饮食文化内，只不过是口语上通过文字来表达的。就像是说人就叫“人口”;谋生就叫“糊口”;职业和工作就叫“饭碗”。干什么工作就吃什么饭，就像书中所说的：“修鞋补锅是吃手艺饭;说书卖唱是吃开口饭;当教书匠是吃粉笔灰;出租房屋是吃瓦片儿。”总而言之就是“靠山吃山，靠水吃水”。一切都与“吃”扯得上边。
饮食，说白了也就是吃饭。但通过对这本书的阅读，我终于深刻的了解了中国人的“吃饭”文化。
何为“吃饭”文化，我想这也只能在中国才寻找得出答案。在中国人看来，食物乃生命之源。因此给人食物，请人吃饭，是一种很重的礼仪;而接受他人的食物，则是受了很大的恩惠，必须加以回报。这，便是中国文化中“吃饭”文化的基本准则。但在这一来一往，你一席我一顿的过程中，这“吃饭”文化渐渐的变了味儿。中国人随着时代的发展而日渐丰满的腰包也闲不住了，开始流行起“请客吃饭”，而“吃饭”文化的基本准则也渐渐成为中国人请客吃饭的正当理由。大家也习惯起这新一代的“吃饭”文化。像这逢年过节，红白喜事，老人做寿诞，小孩过生日，谁家不请，哪个不吃?如果升了职位，涨了工资，搬了新居，走出国门，三朋四友七大姑八大姨也都会堂而皇之地要求你请客吃饭。有人来了要“接风”，送人走了要“饯行”，有事要“撮一撮”，没事也要“聚一聚”。用书上的话总结：中国人恐怕是世界上最爱请客吃饭的民族。
这饮食饮食，说完了“食”，接着得说“饮”了。
既然说到“饮”，那么“茶”，便是不折不扣的.中国文化。
中国人爱喝茶，西方人爱喝酒。“西人饮酒而取其汁，国人饮茶乃取其气”，这是书上的原话。西方人喝酒是为了身体，中国人品茶则是为了意境。
自古以来，茶就是文人雅士所热衷的“至清至雅之物”，它也往往用于陪衬一些山水美景，文雅之趣。所以，这喝茶不叫“喝茶”，得叫“品茶”，从这品茶中还能品出人生哲理，事物的启迪，从而自古产生那么多的伟大诗人来“颂”茶。就连这品茶中，还品出了茶术之道。
不单“食”能请，这“茶”也能请。比如这“吃早茶”，则是如今商场上用来谈生意的办法之一。吃早茶不过于排场，但也不过于寒酸，几叠小食，一杯清茶，既能解决早餐问题，也可以享受其中的一点“意境”。它也确实比请客吃饭少了一点铜臭味，少了一点利益和关系。
柴米油盐酱醋茶，厨房中的繁杂琐事，生活中的切切察察;
悠悠上下五千年，时代中的巨大变迁，历史中的中国文化。
这本书可谓笼万物于形内，把生活中最繁杂却又最简单的事与历史悠久的中国文化完美的结合在一起，使人读完此书，必定能领悟到中国文化中饮食文化的巨大魅力和深远影响。

Although we can only keep in touch with each other by the telephone or the Internet, I wish I could let you know how much I love you and how much I’ve appreciated the things you’ve done for me. It is never too much to say thank you to you, my dear parents.
First and the most important is that thank you for bringing me to this world. During the 20 years, you have done a lot for me, but I haven’t realized how much I love you until I left home to the university. I understand how much effort you have cost to bring me up. Now, I have grown up, I can look after you.

You strictly forbid me to do entertaining activities even if I finished my homework, such as watching TV or playing computer games. Based on this, I couldn’t get any grade less than A. It is said that genius only means hard-working all one’s life. But I think combining exertion is the best way for learning.
The most important thing to me was that I feel frustrated for having few friends to confide in due to your strict rules. I can’t have a play date, participate in a school play or even choose my own extracurricular activities. Who will accept such a boring and troublesome person? I am just an ordinary girl who can’t stand loneliness, so I always feel contradictory.
On the one hand, I’m grateful to have you in my life, to disappoint you was the least I would do. On the other hand, what you asked for me made me felt like a puppet rather than a real person. 当读完《世界和平饮食》，出门正看到一只小黑狗自顾自玩耍，我竟如发现新大陆一般眼前一亮，生命的美感通过它传递给我。再看一切昆虫、微生物，也有了全新的觉受，会欣赏感动，生命是平等的，佛性是平等的。
随着我们对生命平等的感悟，我们的心量会越见扩大，内心的喜悦会加深，也会更平静。自我以个人为中心不断向外放大而有了不同的表现，当它只是个人层面的自我，很容易察觉，过于自我的人在大众中不受欢迎;但随着自我的放大，便越来越难觉察。先是放大到家庭，共同的家庭成员必然维护这个家庭自我，再放大到团体、种族、国家、性别、宗教、人类，也就成了超级自我。所有人都迷在其中，而又极力维护的。这种人类集体的自我中心主义，力量之强大、形式的迷惑几乎无人可挡，无人可识，所以才有所有人类合谋集体屠同为生命的动物以满人类口腹之欲的行为，却对其不合理视而不见并编造种种理由。有人说，人类最大的罪过便是人类中心主义。(我越来越坚信，人类最严重的罪过之一就是人类中心论。——马修·福克斯一点不假，佛说我执无明是造罪的根源，唯有破除人我执、法我执，达致人无我、法无我，才是解脱。
