关于倡导读书的英语作文【一】
社会是否文明？体现的是个人的素质，公民的素质甚至是体现一个国家素质的.具体表现。我们应该提高个人素质为社会文明作出一点贡献。不要让别人的国家的人民耻笑我国的人民。要想在社会上生存，无论是现代还是古代，都要学会两个字文明，不文明的行为有很多。例如：随地吐痰，说脏话，偷东西等等这都是不文明的行为。这些行为小到被别人辱骂，大到触犯法律。就这不文明的行为，就可以让你酿成大错，从而毁掉你的一生。
文明要从小事做起，从自我做起。例如：把果皮纸屑等扔到垃圾箱，在乘公交车时遵守乘车准则，不违反交通规则…………这些都是文明的表现。我们应该向这些人学习，学习他们的品质，行为，道德等。
接下来，我给大家讲两个小故事：《面试》，《程门立雪》。
第一个，《面试》。北京有一家外资企业招工，对学历、外语、身高、相貌的要求都很高，但薪酬挺高，所以有很多高素质人才都来应聘。这一些年轻人，过五关斩六将，到了最后一关：总经理面试。这些年轻人想，这很简单，只不过是走走过场罢了，准十拿九稳了。
没想到，这一面试出问题了。一见面，总经理说：很抱歉，年轻人，我有点急事，要出去10分钟，你们能不能等我？年轻人说：没问题，您去吧，我们等您。老板走了，年轻人一个个踌躇满志，得意非凡，闲不着，围着老板的大写字台看，只见上面文件一摞，信一摞，资料一摞。年轻人你看这一摞，我看这一摞，看完了还交换：哎哟，这个好看。
10分钟后，总经理回来了，说：面试已经结束。没有啊？我们还在等您啊。老板说：我不在的这一段时间，你们的表现就是面试。很遗憾，你们没有一个人被录取。因为，本公司从来不录取那些乱翻别人东西的人。哎呀，这些年轻人一听啊，捶胸顿足。他们为什么这么感慨万千呢？他们说：我们长这么大，就从来没听说过不能乱翻别人的东西。
想想看，我们哪个家庭、哪个学校，经常进行这样的教育？翻东西，是儿童时期的一种习惯，是一种好奇。小孩去串门，看到人家的抽屉，挨着个儿地翻。爸爸妈妈下班了，孩子就翻爸爸妈妈的包。但是，对儿童来说，这是一个特点，不是一个缺点，他就是好奇，他的社会化程度很低，他还不知道要尊重别人。
第二个，《程门立雪》。程门立雪这个故事，说的是宋代学者杨时和游酢向程颢程颐拜师求教的事儿。
二程是洛阳伊川人，同是宋代著名儒学家。二程学说，后来为朱熹继承和发展，世称程朱学派。杨时、游酢，向二程求学，非常恭敬。杨游二人，原先以程颢为师，程颢去世后，他们都已四十岁，而且已考上了进士，然而他们还要去找程颐继续求学。故事就发生在他们初次到嵩阳书院，登门拜见程颐的那天。
相传，一日杨时、游酢，来到嵩阳书院拜见程颐，正遇上这位老先生闭目养神，坐着假睡。程颐明知有两个客人来了，他欲不言不动，不予理睬。杨、游二人怕打扰先生休息，只好恭恭敬敬，肃然待立，一声不吭等候他睁开眼来。如此等了好半天，程颐才如萝初醒，见了杨、游，装作一惊说道：啊！啊！贤辈早在此呼！意思是说你们两个还在这儿没走啊。那天正是冬季很冷的一天，不知什么时候，开始下起雪来。门外积雪，有一尺多深。
以上两个小故事是我分别从现代和古代来讲述的。从这两个小故事中我们可以懂得，文明是我们建设美好城市的条件，也是我们学会做人的必备素质。
文明，简简单单二字，做起来，却很难。大家，简简单单一个动作，一句话，就能创造出一个美好的城市。让我们大家一起努力吧！

Perhaps some people will go to the moon for a holiday or even live on the moon,and some scientists will build cities under the sea to make people live there. We can have a medical examination or do some shopping without leaving our homes,which makes the life more convenient. Maybe we will also do some shopping and work at home.
And I'm sure there'll be more educational programmes on the radio or TV or by the Intemet or videophones,so perhaps some children won't need to go to school every day. They'll study at home.
In the future,all electric equipment at home is under the con-trol of computers. People can learn about the situation of the house by working on the computer at the office. No people like doing housework. Maybe each family will have a robot. Every day we can tell the robot what to do-shopping,housework and so on. believe the dream will come true some day.

童年，是五颜六色的。今晚，我们走进小菜叔叔的童年，听他的趣事。
小菜叔叔露出洁白的牙齿，笑眯眯地说起一岁时的故事。他讲的时而快时而慢，还一边做着风趣幽默的动作，有时把手举得老高，有时掐住自己的脸，有时走来走去像回忆什么，搞得大家哭笑不得。
在他讲述完趣事，还让我猜故事名。有的.同学不假思索地举起手，小菜叔叔却在黑板上写了3个字—30法则（思考30秒后再举手），大家只好把手放下来，个个绞尽脑汁认真思考起来。30秒一到，同学们争先恐后地举起手来抢答，“瀑布”、“反击”、“改诗”……，答案许许多多，可小菜叔叔都说是错的，回去再好好想想。
因为时间的关系，所以从一岁，直接连跳到七岁了。这次他想听听同学们七岁的趣事，大概是有些同学胆怯，或者一时想不起什么趣事，所以举手的人很少。见此情景，他说：“想要学习好，就要当小老师。”这话一出，空中立刻出现了密密麻麻的小手。同学们各自讲说了童年发生的趣事，终于轮到小菜叔叔讲了，好奇的我一直在想：什么事情是他七岁时最深刻的呢？是不是和我一样？结果他记忆犹新的是面试，他讲的绘声绘色加上夸张的动作，让所有的同学听得都入了迷。
调皮的时间总是喜欢出来捣蛋，一转眼，就结束了，好想和大家一一分享太多的童年，因为它总是将不完！
