Before the election, I was confident for this position, but I still so nervous when I was in the platform. Thanks for preparing in advance; otherwise, I must be embarrassed. But the result was what I want. It’s a happy thing.

今年春节，我怀着迫切的心情回了趟久违了五年的老家――池州市。不想过去的那个落后偏远的小城早已改头换面，发生了翻天覆地的变化。
就从我外婆的居住地说起吧。从前那个木材“兼”水果市场附近，除了无人顾及的废墟和狭窄破旧的街道外，找不出一点比它们还有价值的东西，夜里也找不到24小时的便利店，每家每户住的都是矮平房，连个正儿八经的厕所都没有，只能用简陋的尿壶代替。而今，各式楼房拔地而起，从前那条烂旧的街道也已被宽敞平整的大马路所取代，那些废墟呢，更是早已被清除一空了。以至于我们差点儿就找不到外婆家了呢!有模有样的居民区建起来了，多姿多彩的城市生活丰富起来了，大型的购物中心鳞次栉比，交通系统也渐渐完善起来，连路名都起得响亮极了。看着这些，我心里充满了对家乡的自豪！
别太激动了，更让人欣喜地还在后头。我们的城市不仅洋溢着现代化的都市气息，还保留了很多富有江南特色的古建筑，在积雪的陪衬下，更显得美轮美奂。爸爸说：“池州的地理环境很好，秋浦河横贯其间，又有淮河、长江两大河流，真是个好地方啊！”虽然爸爸的语言略显平淡，但他的喜悦之情也是溢于言表。是啊，作为一个池州人是多么的自豪啊！

帮妈妈抓老鼠，虽然也算是种勇气，但不能称上是真正的勇气，真正的\'勇气是：夜晚屋里传来怪声，你敢自己一个人去察看。有些人却把”傻气”和”勇气”搞混了。傻气是因为你好奇，如：有人因为好奇把雨伞打开，从顶楼跳到地板；有人因为好奇在台风天登山是什么感觉，结果就在山上；有人因为好奇就坐在箱子上，从二楼滑到一楼。勇气是勇敢的一种，你跌倒了，马上站起来，不掉泪；你上台演讲，虽然很害怕，但是还是抬头挺胸、自信满满地把演讲完成。
我觉得勇气是一种燃料，可以帮你加油，因为你有勇气，你就会自信满满，就象是加完油一样；我也觉得勇气是道光，把黑暗照成明亮。你被狗咬的时候，你不哭，心情就不会跌落谷底了。
我觉得人一定需要勇气，不然你会不愿意去面对很多事！

炮声中，送走了去年的欢欣与泪水，我又迎来的新的一年，新的一学期。我思索着：长大意味着什么呢？
嗯，是自尊自立，自信自强；还是德智体美劳全面优秀？我想：“没有一个人可以从山脚直接到达顶峰，需要一点点，一步步的铺垫。不积硅步无以至千里，不积小流，无以成江河。”
长大便是各方面都有进步，把敌人作为自己，与自己赛跑，为突破自己的成绩而努力奋斗。去年，我英语成绩仅仅101分，今年，我便一定要力争上游，上110分。“世上无难事，只怕有心人。”我坚信：“态度决定成败，自信就是动力。兴趣就是老师，刻苦就是指南。”只要我肯努力，我便一定能行！让他人去笑我痴人说梦，欧姆定律不也是在无数怀疑与嘲讽中走向世界的吗？他需要的，只是一份执着追求！
