在失败的`议论文写作中，还可以经常见到的一种就是材料+论点或论点+材料式的简单拼盘制作，材料是材料，论点是论点，两者就摆在那，至于两者之间的联系，只字不提。
事实上，对于作为论据的材料而言，不仅要叙述，更要引申，要引出材料与论据之间的联系，这样，才能更好地达到议论说理的目的。

用一颗善良的心对待生活。伟大的共产主义战士雷峰，人民的好公仆焦裕禄，人们的好干部孔繁森他们都有一颗善良的心。
在这一段里，就只是说了他们有一颗善良的心，而对他们怎样用善良的心对待生活只字不讲。而这些内容，无疑才是论证论点最需要的。
当然，议论文写作失败的原因不只是这三个方面，还有不少方面。这里，只是三个主要方面来谈，抛砖引玉，以引起同学们对议论文写作的注意，从而不断写出成功的作品来。

议论文一般只能有一个中心论点，但有的议论文有多个分论点，而没有中心论点。如，巴甫洛夫《给青年们的一封信》就用分论点对青年们提出了希望。
议论文对论点的要求是：正确、鲜明、集中、一致。即作者的立场、观点、态度和方法应正确；赞成什么，反对什么要旗帜鲜明；中心论点只有一个；论点前后要保持一致。
为此，要注意中心论点的这些特点，看中心论点出现的位置。有的议论文中心论点出现在开头，也有的出现在中间和结尾。
