有一天，妈妈准备去上班。为了培养我的独立生活能力，出门前她特地嘱咐我一个人在家里收拾房间和洗衣服。妈妈走后，整个家都成了我的天地：看电视，玩玩具……早把妈妈交代的事忘到了九霄云外。此时，我的脑子里闪过了这句格言：少壮不努力，老大徒伤悲。如果小时侯不学会做一些力所能及的家务事，练就一颗独立自主的心，那么长大后怎么立足于这个社会呢?于是我立刻关掉电视，收拾好玩具，开始整理房间……妈妈回来后，看见焕然一新的房间和那一件件干净的衣服，她欣慰地笑了，还夸我真能干。听了妈妈的话，我也笑了……
还有一次，妈妈有事出去，临走时打开电脑，说：“儿子，你乖乖在家做作业，做完了可以玩一会儿电脑。”妈妈走了，我坐在桌子前做作业，可是我的心思早已飞到了电脑游戏里。赛尔号游戏是如此的吸引着我，我就象得了“多动症”，在凳子上扭来扭去。就这样煎熬了二十多分钟，我终于受不了了，一屁股蹭了起来，“一本正经”地玩起了电脑。但是我的心里总是火辣辣地疼，就象偷偷摸摸地做了一件极不光彩的事似的忐忑不安。猛地，我心里有个声音在对我说：“少壮不努力，老大徒伤悲”，顿时，我感到羞愧万分，重新回到了书桌旁，认认真真的做完了作业……
想想那些伟人，之所以能够在各自的领域内成绩卓越，无不是真正领悟了“少壮不努力，老大徒伤悲”的内涵，珍惜时间。“发明大王”爱迪生每天工作超过18个小时;巴尔扎克在生命的最后几年里更是拼命工作，一天只睡4个小时……
我将“少壮不努力，老大徒伤悲”这句话作为自己的座右铭，时刻提醒自己，鞭策自己，做一个珍惜时间，勤奋努力的人。
