有天分就一定成为天才吗？不一定。是天才就一定意味着成功吗？不一定。实际上，从“神童”到有杰出成就的人之间，绝不存在必然联系。然而，我们却习惯于用捧的方式去看待“神童”，“神童”拥有非凡的成就才算正常，非如此便是失败，非如此便遭受鄙夷。
我并不为魏永康的退学感到惊讶，或者以此感叹“伤仲永”。因为，求知之路无止境，过往的天分和成绩又能说明什么呢？更何况，一个人能否在某个领域做出杰出贡献有很多关联因素，并不是每一个“神童”都能在长大后成为“牛人”。
真正让我感到“伤”的是报道中的一些细节，“热了不知道脱衣服，大冬天不知道加衣服，穿着单衣、趿着拖鞋就往外跑……”这些是魏永康硕博连读期间的一些生活细节。他没有成为母亲期望的天才，却连普通人的生活自理能力都没能掌握。
问题是，凭借“当代伤仲永”就能起到引以为戒的效果吗？在巨大的生活压力之下，父母们在教育问题上进行着残酷地竞争，并常常感叹身不由己。过分拔高孩子的天分，暗含着这样的心理：我的孩子一定能成为佼佼者。可是，我们哪里需要那么多佼佼者，一个幸福的社会，难道不是更需要有着良好修养，有着一技之长，能为社会做出力所能及之贡献的普通人？
魏永康母亲曾代劳他生活上的一切甚至喂饭，而今忏悔：“是我害了他”。这样的忏悔，不仅是为他的学业，也为他的生活。我想，其中为生活的因素可能更多些，有哪个母亲不希望已成年的子女成为会生活的'人呢？
只是，在激烈的教育竞争下，如何去劝导一位焦虑的母亲呢？让一位母亲一时改变观念容易，但社会整体的浮躁还是会让越来越多的父母陷入焦虑之中，进而在孩子的教育上继续舍本逐末。要想从根本改变，就需要在定义成功时，少一些功利性，对待天分时，少一些捧与棒，多一些自然地呵护。进一步而言，需要缩小贫富差距和不同职业间的收入比，营造更公平的社会环境，让更多的人在平凡岗位做出应有贡献就能获得稳稳的幸福，而不是让争做“人上人”成为生活的标尺。依此而言，“当代伤仲永”显然不只是一位母亲的忏悔录。

What he wishes is that he didn’t have to go to school any more. How can the two boys at the same age have such different ideas about attending school?
The two pictures show some problems in the present education system in China. In the poor countryside, especially in some western parts of China, the education is also poor. There are no buildings for classrooms, let alone good teachers. Children there cannot have regular education. They are sometimes forced to leave their studies because their families cannot afford the necessary fees. However, the situation is totally different in the cities.
