《千与千寻》看似是一个写给10岁小孩的童话，但里面却蕴含许多东西，不是一个10岁的小孩可以理解的，我觉得她更适合大人看，尤其是在今天这样一个物欲横流的世界。影片中的主角是一个年仅10岁的小女孩千寻，她迫于现实的无奈，只能和熟识的同学，朋友，老师们分别，去一个陌生的地方。去往新家的路上，沿途的风景虽然很美，但千寻却无暇顾及。由于爸爸的过于自信，他们在一个岔路口迷路了。故事从千寻拒绝走入未知的隧道彼端，到害怕或孤独影响了她尾随父母之后开始。
后面的历险也就接踵发生了……这些就是心灵苏醒的引线。然后一切开始改变。幽暗的庙宇隧道尽头，隐藏着多少灰黑烟尘，对一个小女孩来说，固然无法预言。在一家美味飘香的饮食店里，父母贪心偷食，而千寻却没有一点被吸引，她一个人在外面游玩。受到小白的警告，她跑回了那家店，但一切都已面目全非的。原来他们由于贪食而触犯规条而变成了猪。千寻为救父母，而在这个虚幻的世界里靠艰辛的体力劳动生活。面对或暴戾或无情的众神仙们，在艰难中无从选择，只能从基本的生存中寻求出口。
神仙的世界里，有好人也有坏人。无论是表面冷俊内心复杂的小白，还是锐利热烈的小玲，抑或沉着寡言有很多手臂的锅炉爷爷以及帮他填煤球的“黑色小精灵”们，他们都给予千寻很多帮助。与蛮横的汤婆婆相比，我们可以感受他们的平静，以及被宿命控制的内心图景。而另一个澡堂来客无面人，却缺乏性格，比现实中的千寻更加软弱，随波逐流。因此，千寻自此甘当无面神的导师，为他寻求生活的出口。
片中有一段摄走了我的魂魄，碧蓝天空下，茫茫大海里的火车，千寻和无面人安静的坐在位置上，其他乘客造型类似照相式绘画里的`影子，无比安静的上车，下车，或者等候自己的那一趟列车。这个景象让人强烈的想到人生，宫崎峻描画的往往不是列车在路上安静前行的日常景象，就是到站时的末日景象。路途似乎没有尽头，但却总会在什么地方与什么人相逢，所谓命运，不过如此。他的影片里总有御风而行的生灵，天与海分不清楚的界限，很难说宫崎峻秉持的是圣埃克修佩里一般的飞翔激情，还是如同押井守所说的，把神风突击队的精神贯入到他的电影里。但是好在至少人们可以在他的电影里回忆起童年的纯真，分享他对人类未来的思考。至少那些默默无言纯净世界的树始终在那里，为我们，也为所有人展开想像的翅膀。至少爱幻想的人可以乘上宫崎峻的火车，跟着他安静的看风景，眼睛悲悯。雨一直在下，流淌过悬崖汇聚向低地，太阳出来的时候，山谷已变成海洋，树木在水下继续苍翠，火车在海面照旧每日飞驰过一个个小站。小玲用木头澡盆将千寻送去车站，看到铁轨后，千寻跳下水脱掉鞋子慢慢向站台跋涉。我努力搜寻着对电影残余的回忆，始终浮现那一条隐浮在海面的轨道，被蔚蓝寂静的大海拥抱。当千寻牵着寻回名字记忆的小白(那时他已经恢复原名“琥珀川”的手，在现实的那片天空中云翔，心情畅然，了无牵挂，故事也走到了尽头。
宫崎骏将《千与千寻》送给所有女孩子，或许就是因为它适合所有即将或已经踏上人生征途的旅人，如何自茫然无措中获得勇气，这是人生的必经一课，其实无关男女。如果单从主角冒险经历来看，《千与千寻》可能是宫崎非常“平实”的一部作品，千寻不用拯救世界，也不用和军队抗争寻找失落的城市，她的身上没有国仇家恨之类的宏伟目的。她要做的只是要在父母变猪后，一个人在神怪世界中独立求生，并且拯救回父母和白龙，这个小女孩的主要工作(冒险地点甚至只是一家浴室，虽然里面好像神怪展览。千寻“有限、简单”的遇险经历，反而提供给观众一个真实、充满余味和自省的幻想空间。居住过平房的孩子，谁没幻想过雨后水洼里跳出条鲤鱼。当看到千寻为肮脏的河神冲澡，结果冲出一大堆污秽的破抹布、废旧自行车时，你是否意识到宫崎骏的环保主题依旧常青，他虚晃带过的一笔谴责之色已经让人无地自容。千寻的神幻历险是如此的平实，以至于每个成年人都能从她的泪水和欢笑中看见自己童年的回忆。
