一天，动物们正在茂密的大森林里举行动物运动会。
主持人鹦鹉小姐高声说道：“动物运动会正式开始。首先，举行长跑比赛，请马和豹子闪亮登常”顿时，场下热闹起来，马和豹子来到了跑场，裁判员小猫枪声一响，豹子就象闪电一样跑到了终点，把马远远地甩在了后面。
第二个项目是爬杆比赛，猴子和熊猫依次来到了赛常爬杆对于猴子来说是小菜一碟，比赛刚开始不久，小猴就顺利地爬到了竿顶，而熊猫呢？还在原地打转转。小猴见了，高兴得直跳。
第三个项目是举重，由小熊和小猴参赛。小熊身强力壮，不费吹灰之力就把杠铃高高地举过头顶，全场观众都为它喝彩。可杠铃偏偏跟小猴唱对台戏，你看它，费了九牛二虎之力，已经满头大汗了，可杠铃还没有动一下。小猴羞得满脸通红，心想：小熊举重那么好，可是一点也没有骄傲，不像我，有了一点成绩就觉得自己了不起。
第四个项目是跳远，由小狗、小熊和马“拼”。小熊动作笨拙，一跳才8厘米。马是“f”型动物，根本跳不远，只得放弃比赛。小狗特别轻巧，一跳就以1.8米的成绩夺冠，全场观众都为它喝彩。
鹦鹉小姐宣布说：“本届运动会结束了，现在请评委狮子讲话。”狮子开口了：“动物们都以自己的实力、特长赢得了比赛，我非常满意。”这时，观众们热烈地鼓起掌来。动物运动会就在这欢乐的笑声中结束了。
